The Flower Mare
 
“She was beautiful… but in a paralyzing, mildly frightening way; they could not place why that was.”
 
This is Schneeblume, property of the author Flammenwerfer, on FIMfiction. She is the main character of the linked story; a sad, somber commentary on war and the scars it leaves; on the land, on the body…and on the mind. It’s a powerful, solemn tale of a mare wracked by trauma, guilt, loss, and by the struggle to move on with her life. She’s described as being a pearly white, with a black mane and lavender eyes. In the story she is wearing gardening boots and a tool belt covering her lower body, hiding her cutie mark, which I have attempted to depict here.
 

 
My very first attempt at proper arting, and the first thing I’ve drawn in over ten years. I was so moved by this story and its central character that I couldn’t help but find some way to explore her further. My primary strength lies in writing, but I didn’t feel as though my words could do the character justice, so I sat down and did this. Took a little under 2 hours(and a lot of wasted paper lol), but I’m mostly satisfied with it, being my first piece. Maybe there’ll be more. Of her, or of ponies of my own creation.
