No, I don’t think spike “inherited” anything from his hatching, and I’m aware; twilight was startled mid-spell by the rainboom and it changed her spell.
But yes, especially during School Raze, Tirek and Twilight keep stating “the six of us” with Spike constantly, and angrily, stating “SEVEN!”
Technically, Spike’s egg wouldn’t have hatched if it wasn’t for Rainbow Dash herself, I’m sure you remember episodes Cute Mark Chronicles and Cutie Re-Mark when it shows if not for Rainbow’s Sonic Rainboom, Spike wouldn’t have been born and Twilight would’ve failed the exam and in hope of being Celestia’s student.
This also reminds me of another trope known as the Magical Seventh Son, where the seventh son were to have inherited magical powers and that the number seven is considered magical. Even though the group is called the “Mane 6”, Spike has been considered by many to be the seventh member of the group way before we got characters like Sunset or Starlight, and it’s still believed that Spike could be the seventh element, that and this trope is usually male.
Though I don’t think Spike had inherited magic from Twilight, if that were true then we would’ve seen more of this in the show by now.
Aye, like the egg would only hatch when bathed with “magic fire” and during Twilight’s unusual spell burst, she accidentally fulfilled the requirements for Spike to hatch.
Plus, he was hatched using magic, so it’s possible for him have some magic from that.
Considering Burnferno uses “magical fire”, that implies that some dragons DO have magical powers.
Show us that Spike’s small stature relates to the fact that he is actually tied to magic of some sort.
And who knows even if it’s a poorly execution of foreshadowing it should also be seen as a form of Chekhov’s Gunman, meaning that said character could be seen or made as important but could later be important in the future.
I’m still holding out on the idea of Spike having hidden magic potentials and that he could be the Seventh Element of Harmony.

I agree in that it could be a boon to him as his main wish/dream beyond winning Rarity’s heart is being a handsome warrior for justice.
Similar to Tonde Buurin, he might have an ideal “look” for himself but he’s loved as he currently is and when he is given the opportunity to look more heroic, he’ll retain his more humble self since it’s what the others like about him.
It does have potential though at first I thought Spike envisioning himself as a knight with a strong build was just a representation of his ego and that it’s well …Spike being Spike. But it could be an idea for a goal he would want to pursue and go beyond from being Twilight’s assistant. Aside from findings his origins and embracing his draconic side from better influences via elder dragons I think Spike taking the path of a hero/warrior or knight would be a good goal for him and it would be great for his character, and actually live up to his title as the “Brave and Glorious.”
I don’t know why but I feel that Spike would fit quite well in the Shonen Boy trope.
I get the show is “My little Pony” and not “My Little Spike”, but thorax got more worthwhile character development than Spike. I blame the writers who don’t bother to look into Spike’s past and/or write him off as a pratfall magnet.
I’m sure it was obvious enough that I was reffering to the classic, european/western type dragons. The ones in the show.
The oriental ones are a completely different thing, and the lack of wings is far from the only difference between them.
The Chinese would like some words with you, Mister BP.
Maybe, who knows.
I personally don’t see the show going into so much detail about different subtypes for a race that isn’t ponies.
But to each his own. I do hope he grows them someday though. A dragon without wings just doesn’t look like a dragon to me.
Right, though I personally don’t see him ever growing wings as I don’t see him as being a flying dragon, but a mountain dragon.
-Thick scales
-superb digging ability
-Nictitating lense over eyes
-super durable
Well, of course he doesn’t have visions of flight, he doesn’t have wings and probably has no clue whether he’ll get them or not. If he grows them on day then his fantasies would likely change to add them as well.

so basically Adam West batman.
So basically they suffer a DOUBLE BUUUUUURN!
Burnferno somewhat resembles “beefspike” in Spike’s fantasies.
Though key to remember, Spike never has visions of flight, though he DOES have visions of being a hero, particularly a heroic knight.
They should do a crossover with the Power Ponies.
