You’re right, she’s a fictional character and I’m not so crazy as to think that I’ll get hasbro blacklisted for drawing her again. Fact is that I don’t want to draw her in the first place because I don’t like her, it’s just a funny story that has a double purpose of justifying some of my scootaloo disdain.

Though, honestly I don’t see how any of that is Scootaloo’s fault honestly, (not to mention Sweetie & Bloom were in said picture too) seeing as she’s just a fictional character, and all. I wouldn’t let stuff like that, or the Tumblr drama turn me away from ever drawing a character. If I did, I wouldn’t be able to draw any character ever again. (I get both praise, and flack for my goofy satirical pics on DA, especially my ones making fun of Sonic characters I like. The flack is actually more amusing then upsetting honestly though.)

I am not exaggerating, but it wasn’t a C&D, it was a blacklist. Basically anyone affiliated with Hasbro wasn’t allowed to communicate with me for half a year. That included a lot of pony media groups, specifically Ponyville FM.
It’s not as interesting a story as it sounds though, basically I drew a commission for a musician friend that included joint scootaloo, sent it off to him. PVFM was going to promote his new song with the art but they’re overseen by Hasbro UK, they wagged the finger at PVFM who had to wag the finger at my friend who had to wag his finger at me. Just did a quick edit and sent it back off, thought it was no biggie, but they blacklisted me for it. They did wind up using the edited version as promo art though.
I actually only learned about it about 8 months after the fact. I had been in talks with PVFM about doing some other commissions for their OC on some holiday event stuff, and they dropped contact with me. Figured they’d just lost interest at the time. Only learned about the blacklist when one of the PVFM people found me at a convention and we started catching up.
That’s really all it is. People seem to be pretty curious though so I’ll probably post up the story on my tumblr in a few days. Moral of the story though is that bobdude and scootaloo mix like water and oil.
That’s a shame, the CMC don’t really look complete if all he draws is Sweetie & Bloom.
(Is he exaggerating on that Hasbro part? I mean, fans have drawn worse, and never got a C&D.)

Seriously, every time I post scootaloo I get reamed. I was even blacklisted by hasbro for drawing her smoking a joint something like 2 years ago. The bob blog shall remain a Scootaloo free zone, she’s certainly done me no favors. (Also remind me to tell that story here some time, it’s not super special but it’s pretty funny considering the context)
Yeesh, sorry. I’m not saying he doesn’t have a right to do whatever he wants with the image, I was just saying it’d be a shame to lose it, because he’s getting upset that people are getting on his case over his opinion of the character. (Though, I suppose I could’ve worded that better.)
With people like you getting on my case, or accusing me of things, I actually understand perfectly his situation of catching hell over a minor opinion, or remark online. I swear I can’t make one opinionated post here, without fear of catching flack over it.
Why should he keep up a post that’s getting him uncalled for, detrimental attention? It baffles me that you think it’s not okay for him to try to get rid of something that’s causing him uncomfortableness. It’s not like he would push for the art to disappear from any rehost or prohibit it sharing, heck, he would probably reupload it but without any commentary on it.
You people need to rethink your perspectives: artist draws a cute horse, artist explains why he doesn’t draw her often, artists gets shit for personal opinion. This is not a rational progression of events.
I’m not calling him a “moneter,” or anything. Heck, I actually agree Scootaloo is a bit dull to me, and probably my least favorite CMC, but I don’t really dislike her. Still, it’s a shame fans are getting on his case about it. Still, sounds like he needs to get thicker skin about it. People give me guff about my opinions here all the time. One guy kept giving me crap, because I like the Sanik series.

I dunno, he can draw what he wants, but I’d like to see him draw other characters occasionally too. (And honestly the artist’s bias against Scoots is a bit odd/irrational, and they don’t really look like the CMC when it’s just 2 of the characters all the time. It’s like seeing Larry & Moe without Curly.) I don’t always draw characters/things I like, only drawing things you personally like is probably not a good way to improve as an artist. Especially, if you’re going to do it professionally, chances are you’ll be commissioned by clients into drawing things you don’t always like doing.
