But in all seriousness, it is pretty sad. Companies would do well with business practices like this. Make you buy the whole set.
I didn’t order Shining Armor (yet) but when I ordered Cadance, I got the chase version. Requiring me to order her again to get a regular version, too.

To be fair, just because it’s the same character doesn’t mean the same personality. Image if the toys based on the characters had nothing to do with their personality, and it was different for each toy, like a flower picking Darth Vader or Shining Armor that didn’t care a dyay about Cadence.

I can still enjoy the irony of Cadence being the normal one, and Shining is the crystal pony.
That’s one of the problems with delivery as opposed to buying one off the shelf – you don’t get to pick the one you want.
