Clover arrives on the coast after treading through the forest for what felt like hours. To be fair, though, it probably was. It’s now well into the morning as she rested her rump on the fine grain sand, closing her eyes as she enjoyed the sounds and smells of the nearby ocean.
 
It reminded her of the first time she went to the beach, with her Mom, well before she met… Him. Clover built sand castles with her, and swam around in the shallow waters. That must have been two years ago, but much closer to town.
 
A loud boom startled the lil’ pony from her dream, two ships having taken residence on the once peaceful ocean. A large ship circled close to shore, untouched as a smaller one in the distance drifted to the safety of the shallows. How she didn’t notice before, she has no clue. But it wasn’t a fight that had just begun. By the looks of things, the smaller ship had lost this battle, and wouldn’t float much longer.
 
Clover spots a black flag on the closer ship, and a surge of adrenaline runs through her. Pirates? Pirates!  
Maybe they will land close by? Would it be safe to approach a group of pirates who are robbing another ship?  
And in the back of her mind, she thinks “Finally! Some excitement!”
