as someone with no knowledge about firearms or gunfire wounds who is an expert on this, I would say best case scenario here (if it was a real steel bullet) would be mild brain trauma from such a direct impact (I’ve heard stories of people being knocked unconscious just by a glancing blow), but considering he’s in a defensive position inside a trench I’m going to assume people aren’t taking potshots at him with a 9mm pistol and are probably trying to drill him with a rifle of some sort.
 
But maybe it’s not always the same guy, just guys that look similar. if the pony Russians’ old school military tactics were anything like the human version, throwing bodies at the enemy until they run out of bullets is probably a valid military strategy. :^)

Plus the kinetic energy of a bullet, assuming it isn’t a round large enough to pierce a WWII-era helmet, would probably send him reeling back with a concussion if he’s lucky. Here, he doesn’t really flinch, his pupils shrink a bit and he goes back into cover, gets a new helmet, rinse and repeat. Maybe he’s been doing it all night, idk.
