This shouldn’t be a surprise, since D&D is owned by Wizards of the Coast which is in turn owned by Hasbro. It’s a common fan-theory that MLP and D&D take place the same universe.

To be fair, it is by the inimitable Sara Richard. Andy Price (for one) has drawn imagery just as disturbing in Discord-heavy issues (like the Cosmos arc); it’s just that putting it in Sara’s signature style takes it up a notch.
