its also possible that the Truth behind the events on the second death star where kept secret by Luke and friends. WE know what happened on the Deathstar, so does Luke and probably his friends too… but if the rest of the galaxy has no idea, then its just as possible Kylo has no idea Vader ‘DID’ turn back to good before his death. Its possible that Kylo and most of the galaxy think Vader was just killed by Luke or died when the death star exploded. [which is probably how they think the Emperor died as well] We dont know how the general public sees the historical events.  
Its also possible that Luke DID tell Kylo the truth but Kylo thinks Luke is lying to him in an attempt to stop him from studying the Dark Side.  
“so your trying to tell me that the GREATEST force of Evil just decided to save you by tossing his Master off a cliff? Then just suddenly becoming good and dying? How stupid do you think I am? You just want to make the Dark Side look WEAK because you fear it.” Could very well be the argument Kylo had at the time. Which could make sense if ALL of Anakin/Vaders feats are known far enough across the galaxy, and seeing as he was a major bad ass Jedi hunter [or the master of one if Starkiller is canon or not] who practically wiped out the Jedi order by himself. I could see why Kylo would be skeptical of it all.

Saw it wrong, is a pathetic cosplaying shadow of the old villain, turns his first fight into an embarrassing failure… Doesn’t help he’s little more than a bunch of ideas stolen from Expanded Universe characters, all mashed together to try and create someone new.

It’s not like Kylo is portrayed as brilliant or his point of view as respectable or logically, the whole point is he’s misinterpreting Vader’s life, most likely to serve his own worldview.

That entire plot point of the new Star Wars is so stupid. Like, he completely neglects the fact that Vader saw the dark side was WRONG.
