I hope this all culminates in an EqG TV series that goes on during the off-season of MLP

Okay. Forget what I said before, I’m going to admit to full hypocrisy by coming back for one last post, just because I feel obligated to enlighten you on a couple things.
Firstly, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t put words into my mouth. I didn’t insult anyone, nor did I attack them. If anything, you were the more aggressive individual by jumping on me the moment I put forth the idea (a.k.a the definition of expounding) that saying equestria girls isn’t good because the quality is lower than that of the show it is based on. And you said that wasn’t good enough and decided to go full white knight on me by basically calling me out because I didn’t educate you enough.
Secondly, if you feel the need to act defensive because the thing you are defending is under heavy criticism as you put it, that should be red flag number 1 to you that something is amiss. And I’ll be the first the say that people bandwagon on the EqG hate, and most of it is well justified but of course people are gonna hate for hates sake. Me on the other hand? I sat through the first three films, and each one gave me less and less hope that the next was gonna swing me around to the craze it suddenly amassed.
Let me put this in the best possible way so that there is no miscommunication. Equestria Girls fails because everything about it cannot work in the same way FiM works. What works so well in the show, i.e the characters, their personalities, the setting, the adventures, the writing and the atmosphere all work in their world because it was built from the ground up to be a fantastic magical place where all that stuff is possible. Equestria Girls tries to piggyback off that success by moving everything that worked in the pony world, stripping everything magical and fantastical about it, and palced it into the blandest, most cliche setting possible to market to the widest possible demographic.
EqG’s biggest problem, amoung many, is the writing by far. And I say that having years of writing experience, as well as my own personal experience with media of many kinds. I’m no expert, but I have a decent understanding on what makes for compelling narrative, and going from magical unicorns, reality bending demigods, and mythical creatures left, right and centre to a non-magical, uninteresting location like human-based high school is NOT a progression. That is very much a regression.
First film fails because its pacing is so all over the place it’s like it doesn’t know what it wants to be, a film for newcomers or an extended episode for fans. The second film amps up the visuals with good music numbers, but the narrative takes a total nosedive into convenient script writing territory where nothing is explained and everything happens because the movie needs to move along one way or another. Third film takes the problems of the second and compounds them ad nauseum to the degree of insulting to anyone with more than a 5th grade education. Once again, nothing is properly explained and everything happens either by pure convenience or through nonsensical character motivations and the ending is easily one of the most slap in the face, ham fisted, everybody wins because participation awards are better for our sensitive childrens fragile self esteem conclusions I’ve seen in a kids production.
The reason EqG is not the bread winner Hasbro hopes it could be is because its very existence is simply to cash in on a specific market. And by limiting itself to that market, the media side suffers from a lack of detail. Detail that could be there if given the energy, but it simply isn’t given any. It scrapes by on the bare minumum it needs to the keep enough interest but never more to match the level of quality FiM achieves.
So before you start throwing shade on someone because they have the audacity to criticise the golden goose, maybe stop to check that the goose isn’t laying rotten eggs.
And for your information, pal, I don’t look down on people because they disagree with me. I just don’t have the patience to deal with whiny children. And before you start tearing into me saying that this is all my opinion and ignoring any/all my points made, know that it wasn’t meant to sway you. Just simply informing.
And one last thing. Next time maybe sign up for the site instead of hiding behind your safety blanket of anonimity, helps people take you just a little more seriously. Peace.

You don’t seem to understand. Bad heart just expressed a negative opinion, which does not require an explanation as it is only an opinion. That is not what you did. Instead, You made objective claims that were either false or unsubstantiated. And while I appreciate your attempt at explanation, your explanation was not “expounded” as you claim it to be, and is actually very lacking when it comes to detail and actual explanation. And There’s a difference between attacking someone for their opinions, which I never do, and responding to them with disagreement, which is perfectly ok. And unlike you, I don’t look down upon those who disagree with me, nor do I insult them for defending what is constantly under very harsh criticism and often outright attack giving them every right to be defensive.
With me, I don’t necessarily demand much of anything from the franchise. It’s entertaining as it currently is. I would like it to be better, in a sense to live up to the unachievable hype it has amassed for six years, but I don’t particularly feel the effort to demand such is on my list of priorities. :T

I give you a nicely expounded explanation as to the failings of the series as a whole when compared to it’s superior and you jump down my throat like an evangelical demanding proof when someone says god doesn’t exist.
Any further conversation with you would be completley wasted, you are clearly incapable of consistancy. Which is a problem both EqG and it’s white knight fans suffer from. So good day to you, I’m done.

I cannot imagine he knows nor cares how well EG sells. Trying to argue with a wall does work sometimes, however. :)
Can you back any of that up, or are you just making assumptions based on your own opinions without doing any actual research and analysis? You say the show has effort put into it and the movies don’t, but you have no evidence, and no, your dislike of the movies is not evidence of anything. And how does it go against what FIM built itself up to be? It doesn’t encourage unrealistic standards like most high-school movies, so I see no other reason you could think that. And you say the movies are empty, yet you don’t give any reasons as to why you think that. You can’t just say something and expect people to take your word for it, you have to explain and substantiate your claims. You say these movies are not that good when you look at them with a critical eye, yet you aren’t doing that, you are only making baseless and unsubstantiated claims. And you forget that the first two movies were originally intended only for television and were only given LIMITED theatrical release as an afterthought, and quality has very little to do with success.

Because FiM has actual quality put into it. From the get go Faust designed this generation of MLP to be more than just commerical bait for girls. She clearly cared about the series enough to make it more than just generic “girl/kid” television. The reason why is became to successful is because they put so much work into making it a higher quality show. So in the case of FiM, it’s quality did in fact lead to it’s success.
EqG, on the otherhand, is as corporate as it gets. It’s shallow and meaningless outside of simple product pandering to girls. It goes against so much of what FiM built itself up to be that it had to go to the lowest possible denominator to make it as market friendly as possible. Yeah, they got the same crew to make it instead to shovelling it out to some third party studio, but that only brings its worth down more when you compare it to what the whole series derived from. It may look like FiM, but it’s nothing but an empty shell once you strip away it’s transparent exterior.
Because EqG is so lacking in the same quality as it’s predecessor, it’s more than clear to why it’s taken the path it has. From theatrical realease to straight-to-DVD sales, that’s pretty evident that it’s failings are due to the mishandling of it’s overall quality and care.

Success ≠ quality, and What makes FIM so different?
That’s true. It didn’t take off as well as, an example, Pokemon, three or four of its movies were in theaters, compared to two. Still, not a reason to discontinue something. The term everypony is thinking of is called “in the red”. Something the EG spin-off is not yet at. ^3^
Even if the series isn’t very good…I mean really. Why are people so quick to defend it? It’s really not that good when you take a critical eye to it.

It’s a fact that the spin-off franchise is doing so poorly it’s going to get cancelled, or that some like to present their personal wishes as the truth like that?
Personally, I’ve recently only seen solid proof of the latter.
