Gustauve

This is the sort of conversation that only truly close friends can have. I find it heartwarming to know that I have such friends.

“Hey, Gus?”
“Yeah?”
“If I killed someone, how would you take it?”
sigh Do you need help hiding a body?”
Draco_2k

They say a good friend will help you get rid of a body. I don’t know what level of intimacy you have to have to casually drop something like that. Full-body fusion, maybe.

Good points, though I still feel some people are being way too hard on AJ, RD, and Rarity; yeah they messed up in this episode (and in a fairly sitcom-trope fashion), but we’ve seen plenty of other examples of where they show just how deeply they care for and support the CMC.

You said what I wanted to say and better than I could have said it. This isn’t as dark as people are thinking it is. Also, though I doubt the artist had it in mind, southerners have had a long tradition of gallows humor. It’s not meant to be macabre or unfeeling, but more to lighten the mood of a depressing situation. Big Mac here gives a perfect example of it.

Not having looked at anything else this artist’s done, I took Mac saying “that’s why I killed mine” as a joke, since his parents are dead and Cheerilee’s talking about parents so he’s lightening the mood a bit. It’s the sort of dark joke you’d only make with people you’re close with, I lost a parent and I can still joke about it with the right people.

If anything, that sort of joking effectively conveyed their emotional intimacy in this comic. It dovetails nicely with Cheerilee sprawled out and sad, telling Mac her introspective thoughts - in the show itself Cheerilee is always putting on a smile over barely suppressed sarcasm and the odd eye roll, it’s neat to imagine her opening up in private.

Mood whiplash tag be needed.
My occasional headcanon is that Mac’s parents abandoned him, AJ and AB with Granby Smith, shortly before her husband died.
So he claimed they’d died as well, to give his sisters a slightly happier memory. In essence, he killed his parents. They’re dead to him.
