Allow me to attempt to predict the future. Filthy Rich is funding the camp because he wants the mystical hoo-doo that is somewhere in the Everfree. Gloriosa and Timber discover it with the Mane 7’s help and take it’s power for themselves, or are at least possessed or overwhelmed by it’s power.

Personally I think they’re intentionally being misleading with the teasers and the romance is with the intent to distract us. My theory is that both Timber and his sister will end up being the actual villains.

As far as I can tell, Faust created the unspoken rule to keep every mane character out of a “committed” relationship, and her successors continue the practice in both FiM and EG. Only it’s not that subtle in the EG series. XD

I have no idea why they are bothering to try the love interest angle again. Yes, I understand it’s a common trope for fiction aimed at the primary audience, but one of the core concepts of the show is that females don’t need males to be complete. In the end either Sci Twi is going to walk away from him, or he’ll get freaked out because of all the magic and leave on his own.
