The G1 ponies (outside RaMC) were all repaints of each other with the exact same mane and tail. I’d rather see her in the design made for her before it became Pinkie Pie than the old copypasted version. Though of course the best (for a Surprise native to FIM instead of the G1 character drawn in the FIM style) is her Wonderbolt hair. It’s cool that such a carefree and silly character (assuming she’s much as she was in G1) has the drive, determination, skill, and brains that one wouldn’t expect of someone like her.
 
Do wish there were more all-new designs for her, though.

I prefer that to her being a Pinkie Pie recolor.
 
I know, I know, that was the original Faust design, but I really get tired of how people almost always use that for fanart depictions of Surprise and almost never do something either based off the actual original G1 Surprise design (which I honestly think is better), or perhaps something a bit more original.
