One of the problems with that is rehosting without permission. Some of the places we link to go to people’s own sites or other places that can keep track of popularity of a game/mods downloads as well as leave useful comments for a development team. Directly hosting a mirror without permission could leave the author without some valuable data if people just go for the mirror and never visit the website in question.
 
Still, it’s basically a permission for rehosting issue and with the number of mods, games, and such sent our way, often times not by the author of the content in question, it can be hard at times to even get in contact with authors to ask permission.
 
The only thing we can guarantee is that the archive on our side will remain up and if enough people download the games from the original source while it remains active it will allow us to rehost the content in the future if the content creator abandons the project completely.

just because SFM is a horrible travesty that locks down our mindshare so hard that we will never be able to create without it, doesn’t mean that people like argodaemon and sourcerabbit can’t squeeze blood out of a stone.

Oh, it does save the game? I didn’t see the tabs, I thought it was just linking to Equestria gaming.
 
Edit: As I thought its mostly link to different websites and not an actual downloadable archive, Seth. So it IS threatened by stuff like Equestria gaming dying.
 
Can’t you grab the source of that place and rehost it yourself?

This archive thing is a great project.  
Will it also do videos, and games?
 
Since Equestria Gaming is dead and the Admin is a douche, I’d love to see this website also archive and host all of the games, flash or not, that it had.

There are good ones out there, and yes, one frame of that is still good, the lighting and effects and just beautiful. But again, as I said, there are those who can’t do that and won’t work to be able to do it.
 
I don’t necessarily care about anthro, but it just looks bad and has the weirdest proportions I’ve seen. They literally applied a pony head on a human model and was done with it. And abundant, yes they are and there’s no damn tag to filter it out specifically either.

I put that image because if you take one frame, still looks good (and was the first that I found). And then, I guess I haven’t understood you before, I thought that you were referring that the not animated artworks in general are “bad”.
 
Completely agree about what you said of the anthro pieces, them are just creepy and are abundant in these days. Some people seems to like them.

I did say “some”. The one you gave is animated, so kind of cheating but I understood what you mean. I’m just sick of seeing the crappy screenshots (especially those lewd anthro pieces which have a weird model) with no editing or fixes. Posing a 3D model and editing it is hard work, but there are people out there (not gonna name any) who simply can’t do that. They make a badly stiff pose, and just go with that. That’s just lazy.

There are some pretty good (again, in my opinion) SFM pictures, principally, what makes them memorable is the lighting, which as far as I know is not easy to do.

If you see for example a 3D model of Disney without lighting and textures, it also would look “bad”…

Agreed. SFM animations can be just as impressive as their 2D counterparts.
 
It’s honestly kinda weird an organization calling themselves “Best of Brony” would have just out right denied SFM works because they were SFM.

There’s just something about SFM that rubs me the wrong way.

OP, do you know how difficult it is to make an SFM video? Harder than most other videos, for sure.  
At least, hard to make a great one, anyway.

In my opinion, I think that the artwork of Argodaemon completely deserves to be in the archive. 3D Animation is, indeed, easier to do than the traditional way, but not everybody knows how to make great pieces.
