And after sending Luna to the moon, Celestia shall sing a song vaguely resembling Eurobeat brony’s Luna, in which Nicole Oliver (or some other woman) reveals her beautiful singing voice and the tears from the eyes of the bronies shall come down like a billion tiny waterfalls that shall flood the earth as the mayans predicted.
My God, the feels will be beyond measure.

And then there are pegasi who can manipulate lightning barehooved. So, we have a race that could basically work with electricity or a magical substitute nearly from the very beginning. And pegasi can travel much faster than any road vehicle, and your standard pony can run probably about 25mph for a good clip. There’s really no reason for them to have built certain modern devices unless, like Flim&Flam’s gizmo, it does multiple things at once.
This is probably why they can have an arcade game, but no TV. With news traveling so fast, by magic or by pegasus, and from what we’ve seen of Read it and Weep, ponies preferring reading+using their own imaginations, there’s essentially no reason for a massive television network.
Equestria is actually relatively modern-y (i would wager the 50s), but all missing pieces of technology are missing because, as the HUB would say, “There’s a pony for that.”
I could see an episode spoofing the internet though, where say a pony builds a machine that writes a huge amount of messages at once, then a dragon batch-mails them out, and that would constitute the start of the first ‘d-mail’ hub of the Canternet. Also it would probably lead into a terrible pun about ‘flaming on the canternet’
Night vision goggles have probably been around for a couple hundred years for them btw, rather than just about 50 years for us.
