@AlushyTheTyrant
Watch the movie
you know what, i don’t care that much to prove i am right to waste an hour or so cutting up the animation, putting it together in photoshop, writing explanations on the drawings, uploading it and then posting it here, for something that would take you just a few seconds.
“And the original post was about character animation”
Original post? You mean the gif that was uploaded here? So what? The topic people ACTUALLY talked about had nothing to do with character animation specific, it wasn’t anything even remotely related to the part you responded to me. I…i’m out, i can’t bear this…
I request a demonstration, because I know similar effects can be generated digitally without any drawing. And the original post was about character animation, not effects.
Edited
Have you actually done what i told you to do? Go frame by frame and look at the special effects? Because i have no idea how you can miss it being obviously handdrawn and frame by frame if you had done that. It’s like..impossible.
I ignore the character animation, because i haven’t said anything about character animation. The character animation was done the same way it has always been done, so why should i say anything about that?
I have, I still don’t see what you’re talking about, and you’re still ignoring the character animation.
I don’t have a source other than my own experience, BUT, you can see it yourself by going through frame by frame during the special effects part of the fight. You will see that the effects are completely different drawings each frame.
Not to mention after effects-effects look different than that. They might use it to make the drawings look prettier, but the effects themselves are clearly handdrawn.
This highly dramatic style does not match a mundane, comedic, and cartoonish show like this.
Do you have a source for that? I just assumed those were automated in after effects and that the characters used the same well-executed motion tweens as normal.
Because it wasn’t just drawn in Japan, it was also written in japan for japanese audiences.
Just look at oldschool cartoons that hired japanese studios to make the openings to their cartoons, these looked absolutely amazing.
But the problem isn’t whether it is done in japan or not, it’s simply because it’s done with tweening(aka flash) and not drawn frame by frame, which of course would be much more expensive. For example look at the special effects in the Twilight vs Tirek fight, they were drawn frame by frame and looked absolutely amazing, despite being done in flash.
Flash the authoring software (now known as Adobe Animate) isn’t going anywhere. It’s just their old proprietary Web output file format (SWF) that’s dying, and that has no real bearing on the TV-targeted animation that DHX produces.
Anime adaptations of western shows aren’t exactly that great.
Like, PPG was so well received in Japan they went and made Powerpuff Girls Z… and it sucked.
If it weren’t for Hasbro (and now concurrently the fandom), DHX wouldn’t be producing shows, plus Hasbro are the ones who set things up for said shows. On top of that, Hasbro can hire anyone they wanted to to make their shows for their toy lineups.
@Blissey1
Good old Adobe Flash… Slowly withering to die yet still kicking strong.
Well, they are the ones who hire studios, decide on budgets and buy required software licenses.
What has hasbro to do with the animations?
Because Flash
“Tell me what, darling?”
