I picture Sunset Shimmer as the Princess of Guidance along side with the Element of Wisdom or arguably could also be the Element of Forgiveness to fit into the the mane 6, but regardless what her element is it will be based on what experiences she had.
 
Namely my conclusion is because of her representing a Phoenix as well as her Cutie Mark containing a Yin & Yang sign.  
She experiences “Resurrection or Rebirth” hence the Phoenix. She also has /Balance/ because she has experienced things from quite literally all angles.  
She was a bully then became bullied. (Given for a good reason) but later on she became accepted and forgiven. However, it took longer for her to actually forgive herself. Phoenix may represent rebirth or Resurrection, but it also can be called “The Royal Bird” which can be implied but not solid proof that she could potentially become a Princess later on.
 
Regardless in Friendship Games Guidance feels more suiting than basing on her just being wise or a person open for a variety of interpretations. Regardless she helped Twilight by guiding her based on past and present experiences. So I see her as a leader that will guide those she cares for with her light.
