it does, but it’s a glitch that happens before the image gets to us. cell phones that automatically orient themselves depending on the angle of the phone sometimes bork the orientation of photos they take.
so if you open it in something like ms paint and, if need be, rotate it properly, it will be oriented properly when it’s uploaded.
I just realized how stupid my comment was… if Derpibooru removed all the metadata then why would the pic be sideways in the first place?
Obviously it doesn’t, I know it removes some of it though

the sideways pic thing is just a bug that happens sometimes when you use a phone or digital camera to take a photo of a drawing. open the image in any image editor like microsoft paint and resave it as a new file. that should fix it.
