Description
“This piece took me more than 40 hours to complete. The goal was to take a group of 6 ponies and equate them to characters from the 80s classic cartoon Jem and the Holograms. I recreated the logo and completed each character individually before composing this completely rad background. If I say anything else about this piece, it is TRULY OUTRAGEOUS! TRULY TRULY TRULY OUTRAGEOUS!”
The original cartoon was pretty much like your description, and so the movies didn’t change all that much. Revivals rarely do more, overall: Yogi Bear, Fat Albert, et cetera.
A better watch than that Jem movie and the latest AotC movie
Are you familiar with the Chipmunks movies? Because I have an honest question.
Are the Chipmunks and the Chipettes the only chipmunks we ever see? Are they the only ones we ever hear about? Is the movie completely silent as to their parents, background, and so forth? Are humans amazed that chipmunks are talking at all, or are there talking chipmunks in society and Alvin and his friends are simply talented singers and dancers?
That is totally messed-up.
Makes me want to watch the Chipmunks, or Underdog. (At least, they had some acuracy to their source material.)
No kidding. I mean, ostensibly the message was supposed to be your typical “be yourself” moral. But the actual movie demonstrated that as “Be yourself, so long as being yourself involves covering yourself with glitter and makeup and hair dye so nobody can see who you are and maintaining a large presence on Youtube so you can still be popular.”
It is a hot pile of garbage.
Can we not bring the comic drama here, and ruin this awesome image?
@Mr. Horrible
Yeah, it was a “Jem” movie in name-only basically. (I understand sometimes they have to take liberties with a cartoon series to translate to a movie, but they literally changed everything about it.)
And that “moral” of the movie sounds kind’a disturbing.
From what I’ve heard, IDW strives to make every other comic high quality. I mean, I still by FiM and FF comics just to mess with all y’all. XD
The comic is still alive? fuck.
Yeah, the movie bombed harder than the Enola Gay. Mostly because they stripped out anything fun and original about the original franchise and rebooted it to be entirely about teaching children to define their entire life and identity solely though their social media profiles.
For what it’s worth I’ve only heard great things about the new comic series from IDW, though.
