Oh okay! I’ll be sure to check em out! For me its daytime here heheh
Just so you know, I’ve been… a bit busy tonight.
Got 3 more pics up.
Wow. I am not really into blocking hands because I want to try and practice on them. Bi5 I see your point! Which is why many of my drawings have sime styles of arms becaise I am jist starting of with the simpler arm designs and trying to improve.
Not trying to avoid it altogether, but sometimes it can work.
Like this one here by someone I know personally.
He’s hidden Adagio’s left hand under the hair, and the right hand’s cupping the left elbow. Not avoiding altogether, but it shows my point.
Oh dear God, no! Nothing says “I can’t draw” like hiding the hands, and it’s tremendously obvious to other artists. A lot of artists even go out of their way to avoid poses that might be interpreted as hand-hiding. It’s better to do hands poorly than to hide them. Hands on hips and folded arms are fine poses, they don’t really hide the hands, but hands behind the back, and worse, cropping the picture so the hands are just out of frame, are guaranteed to make your picture look awkward.
Besides hands are one of those things artists look at differently than non-artists. No matter how dissatisfied you are with your hands, odds are nobody looking at the picture will care. Case in point, >>992322. The hand is little more than a rectangle, and it still looks good. Don’t worry about it, but for the love of God don’t hide it.
Hands… Yeah…
There are a few tricks you can use to avoid drawing the hands so much, such as arms folded. (Only need to draw the fingers on the right hand), hands on hips, (Again, only half the hand to draw), behind the back (this can produce some crazy cute effects too; imagine Sonata with her hands behind her back gazing up with a sheepish expression), or hands in the lap hidden in clothing. (Which is sometimes best avoided given the mentality of this fandom…)
That reminds me of a trick Disney uses a lot that not many people have noticed.
The angle at which the character is portrayed can indicate their attitude. Looking up comes across as submissive, and is often used with the ‘Disney Princesses’.
Likewise, looking down on you makes them more dominant, and sometimes a bit menacing, again, used a lot for the villains.
Done on a level (like most of the art we see here) doesn’t give anything away.
Also, the eyes. I have noticed you tend to draw the whole outline of the eye. It actually works better if you only do the top and inside edges of the eye, and the eye lashes. Just take a quick look at some of my own doodles if you want to see what I mean. The other edges can be hinted at with the body colour.
Ouch, hope you feel better soon!
The same thing happens to me.
It’s worth it to draw Adagio. You’re very welcome and keep up the great work! :)
It’s actually a new style I am trying!
Hand…hurts but thanks!!!
