wait a sec. where are all the equestrian earth ponies? at first I thought it was because only unicorns in canterlot had to flee, and then because they were flying places to cover ground fast. but… and then because crystal empire, crystal ponies. but…
 
I think applejack here is the first earth pony we’ve seen in this entire comic so far, who isn’t complete dag nasty evil.

The Bearers can’t be sealed “inside of the Elements” because the Bearers and the Elements are the same thing.
 
Or at least they were in the first episode. The show since seems to have just kind of not remembered that rather vital detail, since the characters have frequently had their baubles stolen and subsequently been unable to use the Elements, and now the Elements have been effectively replaced by the Rainbow of Light which is pretty much the same thing with a new name…
