Nope. Still here, just different patterns.
The root of them is the use of ordered dithering to convert the 16M-colour original animation to a 256-colour GIF. That accounts for the patterns you see at full size. They’re how it approximates a colour that’s not present from ones that are.
The different patterns in the thumbnail come from a nearest-neighbour downsizing to create the thumbnail. You sample every N pixels, but N isn’t a whole number so you round down to get the actual one to use, and when going across a patterned area you end up on the same pixel in the patten a few times, then a different one a few times. That creates a new pattern out of the old one.

I’m glad she was able to shake off the patterns she had on her between me seeing the thumbnail to seeing the full image.
