Color me surprised then. You usually defend IDW’s mistakes.
I’m not saying it’s ok, I am simply pointing out what happened.
I also didn’t say anything about Ball because… you already did. Why repeat it? It has been said.
Precedent does not make it ok. You have to properly credit people for their work, even if it’s just a mock-up of the cover because not only is it the right thing to do but the covers are released before the issues and readers may decide whether to buy the issue based on the artist or writer who contributed to it.
I can’t help but notice you’re quiet about Georgia Ball being miscredited.
In fact, if you look close at this image’s “thumbnail” of that same cover, you can see the the IDW logo and issue number indicator has been changed.
The mock-up of the cover you linked was made before the logo change.
Digital mock-ups of the variant covers have often had incorrect credits as far back as the earliest issues.
