I’d tag this “anthro”, that’s a human back there.

Huh, I almost forgot about that, even more reason for me to believe Ponies are just made from candy.  
They can grab stuff using their hooves, their wings… they don’t really appear to have any real joints… they are just made from candy!

I don’t exactly know where I would expect wings to attach on anything but birds.

Ancient birds like the archeopteryx you can still see the fingers that apparently could be used to grab onto things like trees.  
So when I try to imagine anything else having wings that normally wouldn’t have a wing, like a human or a pony, I imagine them attaching to their shoulder blades. But apparently to make a human or a horse fly, that’s not the best place to have wings attach.  
Plus in the show it self, you see pegasus have their wings all over the place, from their shoulder blades to their stomach or even the rump. Which just contributes to my head canon that ponies are made from candy and have no defined shape or physical limitations.
