Er, that’s not exactly how it went, but you are sorta right.  
When making the distinction, paleontologists generally use the term ‘non-avian dinosaurs’ to denote anything they’d consider more dinosaur than bird.

That would be the Paleocene period, right after the mass extinction at the end of the Cretaceous period. Remember though, while it was a mass extinction event, the extinction did not hit every branch of animal life equally. Generally when a mass extinction comes through, the less specialized and more adaptable animals survive. On top of that, there’s the rare examples of remnant species, or what some paleontologists call ‘Paleocene Dinosaurs’. Small pockets of an animal species that’s functionally extinct, yet persist in small groups. These groups are nowhere near large enough for the species to continue, but they persist long enough for some to occasionally show up in deposits well after a mass extinction.

A post-apocalyptic world can sustain the exceedingly small number of survivors. Just ask Jurrasic mammals. (Yes, I’m aware I don’t know the era the dinosaurs died. X3 )

If the people are surviving on a world after the world has come to an end, can you really say that the world has come to an end? :d

Depends on if you yourself want to survive past it. The term ‘end of the world’ is something of a misnomer. There’s only a few ways we know of that the world will actually ‘end’. The question is how many people would survive an event like that. As long as the world is still here and can support life, there will be at least a few people that manage to survive.

Yup, that’s why even though I love computers and the Internet, I’d like to think that I could be off to a better start than most if we were to loose the Internet.  
I try to keep a decent supply of emergency kits and MREs, and my sister Is into growing her own food, she just learned online that you can grow your own shrimp in a fish tank. XD

The sad thing is, we do indeed live in the ‘Age of Google’, where if you don’t know how to do something, it is very easy to find out how. Or at least find out the basics, enough to get you started. Yet most people wouldn’t even think that far. There was a survey back in 2012 in the UK of adults between the ages of 24 and 30. The survey found that 40% of them did not know how to cook their own food from scratch. That is, they didn’t know how to prepare any meals beyond reheating pre-cooked meals in the oven or microwave. Furthermore, 60% of adults in the survey didn’t know how to grow their own food.
 
Just think about that for a moment. If the power went out for good, 40% of the UK’s population would starve to death. If all the grocery stores and fast food joints closed down, 60% would starve.

I have my own running theory that overly protective parents leave their children unprepared to become a grownup.  
I see it all the time where young adults from their late teens to early twenties have that “deer in the headlights” look when given choices “do you want this or this” or heaven forbid “why do you want to do this?” usually people can take offense to you asking why but where I work in Southern Nevada it comes down to if you can explain to me why you need to take all of that stuff with you to your gate I can explain to you how it’s a silly idea, especially when Southwest Airlines gives you two free check ins per person.  
I am happy when young Vegas party kids are able to articulate what their plan is besides just “woo party! 8D”  
You know what, I don’t think a child is done growing up until they are 30.

It was shortly post-World War II. Naturally parents wouldn’t have had problems showing this, those who survived the wars had another perspective entirely.

That was a good commercial. Leaves an impression alright. Actually, America had this sort of thing in the 1950s and 1960s but heavier; I’m not sure when it changed but safe driving campaign videos actually showed dead bodies in them. Look for “Signal 30” and “Wheels of Tragedy” for a few, both of them are that way though the second one has a mix of acting in it.
