I remember both of the games simply for the sheer joy of running around killing things in OTT ways; the feeling of being a near-unstoppable superhuman badass was brilliant.  
While the plot for the first game interested me, as did Alex himself, number 2 was a little better… until the generic and just plain boring ‘fiendish master plan’ of Alex was revealed. I was expecting some huge plot twist with inrigue around the Evoloved, but nope; Alex just wants to take over the world. Of course.

Yah, the soldiers still appear around a few places.  
I know there’s an event/challenge near the park where you fight the soldiers that are attacking a hunter pack and are trying to save the hunters.  
They appear around that point.

Yeah the extendo-tentacle basically rapes anything that isn’t a Hunter, D-Unit (The super soldiers), a vehicle or boss.  
Which is why I didn’t use it that much.  
Musclemass is actually a really good power that does good damage and is all around good, but I only found that out on my 3rd playthrough or so, and it really lacks in crows control.

Well, the combat in 2 is awesome-balls.  
All the combat powers now have a use, you can’t just use one and no others, you can summon your own minions to beat up others, you can grab someone, make him into a bio-bomb, throw him, after which he explodes, tendrils shoot out from him, grab random objects, and drag them with really fucking great speed and force to the center.  
But the special enemies no longer appear in free romes, just brawlers (the new hunters), none of the cool specials like evolved or juggernauts appear, the collectables are shown on the map with sonar pulses (granted, you kinda NEED them this time around, collecting them gives you upgrades instead of experience). The side missions are way more interesting and involving, you still have the challenges from the first game tho, and I felt like the missions were more fun than in 1, with more missions that require you to inflitrate and even engage in rescue missions disguised as a soldier.  
The story is completely stupid, tho, Heller is just a constantly angry black man with no character and Alex basically turned into Sinestro.  
Still, the FUCK AROUNDEY MAKE SUPER MURDER aspect of the game is wastly improved, so wait for a price drop and buy it I say =P

but super soldiers and the mutants DID appear in free roam =(

Oh yeah, I did do that. Game as a whole was fun. Wish the special enemies (Super-soldiers and Giant mutants) appeared in free-roam. Is 2 any better?

I always used the grappling hook ultra-long-range attack for everything, maybe that’s why I could never get his health down enough.

It’s actually really easy to beat him if you know how.  
Eat soldiers, use Critical Pain Finisher.  
Repeat.  
Military goes away, throw bombs with musclemass.

In case you don’t know what happens afterwards because it’s totally awesome and you need to know:  
Supreme Hunter dies, Alex strips the bomb to a helicopter with some straps, drops it in the ocean, tries to get away, explodes, get’s caught in the explosion.  
Scene now transitions to the beach with a liiiiiiiittle bit of Blacklight sludge on the ground. Bird tries to eat it, sludge eats bird, Alex rebuilds himself from a bird AFTER GETTING FUCKING CAUGHT IN A NUCLEAR EXPLOSION.  
It was awesome.

I actually beat it by throwing missles I think, but that battle was hard as hell.

I’m now imagining the Blacklight virus as the perfect changeling.

running from the cops and seamlessly, perfectly integrating into the civilian crowd instantly by absorbing a person  
then i quit because the battle on the aircraft carrier was way too hard
