You can play solo on missions that aren’t Strikes.  
You gotta play with a Squad to do Strikes.  
You could try to solo Raids, though I highly suggest you don’t.

Those are games where you’re just shooting Nazis in the face (among other things). You’d think, considering how unpopular Hitler and his boys are over there, they’d be all for that.
 
Do they fear it’ll be used as a “recruitment tool” or something?

I mean, I have a general idea what a Raid is, but I’m still not familiar.

I mean, Nazi-stuff is still censored to hell and back from what I can tell. When I bought Hearts of Iron 4, I sent in a bogus support ticket to Steam Support to get them to temporarily change my store back to the American version of the Steam Store so that way I could use some of what I had left on my old debit card to buy the uncut version. I actually have the portraits of Nazi folk now instead of just a bunch of blacked out silhouettes that they used for the German version of the game.
 
On the flipside, the original BioShock was cut for the German version but when the Remastered edition came out it was uncut. A shit port, but it was still uncut. So me thinks it was rather recent.
 
Dashu is probably much better to ask about this kind of thing though, I’ve only lived here for a few months

Strikes are missions where you, basically, team up with others to hunt down a powerful target.  
Raids are like the ones in Warframe. You need a team, teamwork, cooperation, the usual.

They’re a tougher version of Strike, and like Raids, there’s no matchmaking.

They changed names and blacked out portraits, pretty much. You could play as Joseph Stalin, Benito Mussolini, Emperor Hirohito, and…Almond Hiller. The vast majority of generals and Nazi leaders got the same treatment.
 
There’s some differences in the text as well, I hear, but I haven’t played the game in German so I can’t go into specifics or even really confirm.
