I was merely stating that [jigsaw-queer]gate is more a historical event now than something that has a major effect on the discourse. The only people who continuously bring it up are the people most involved in what certain members of Kiwi Farms term “The Autism Holy War”. Sure, it’s useful for some degree of context when discussing how we got from there to here (even if the usage of it on both sides is historiographically overly simplified); but bringing it up all the time is aggravating for those of us who don’t care. We have a [jigsaw-queer]gate thread for a reason.

I don’t get traumatised over its mention, just aggravated when people attribute it to far more than it really was, especially when it comes to politics. Despite what spending time on the internet will have you believe, the Mongolian basket-weaving forums aren’t as powerful as their opponents would have you believe. It’s something I’ve seen since mainly 2016, where internet-savvy people in all the major political camps feel that what they encounter online is indicative of the real world (This is where comments about Trump winning the election like “The gamergate president” or “the president we memed into the White House” come from). Outside of specific incidents, this isn’t really the case because less internet-savvy people by-and-large stick to the parts of the internet where 4chan’s presence is felt least. Shit like [jigsaw-queer]gate, or alt-right racist meme-tards, or listen-and-believe, or what have you affects us because we are in spaces on the internet where we get inculcated with that. People who only go on Failbook, or the major news sites (that’s news sites with a real-world presence, not online-only publications) aren’t affected by it except peripherally at most.
For example, when an Australian shot up my country last month, it would be the first time that most people in my country were made aware of 4/8chan and the alt-right. Before that most people here would only know of “more wild parts of the internet filled with assholes” and “far-right nationalists” respectively. This would hardly be unique to NZ, as I’m pretty sure that in a lot of countries less internet-savvy people would be the same, in they can conceptualise a “4/8chan” and “alt-right” and “4/8chan alt-right trolls” existing, even if they aren’t actually aware of them; and because they aren’t aware of them, they don’t feel their impact.
Despite our different viewpoints on it, we get it and understand it because it affects us in the online spaces we inhabit. The power of [insert majority online based group you hate here] is largely limited to online spaces because that’s where there influence and effects are felt, and do not translate into the real world in any major way (there are a lot of spaghetti stories on 4chan of people attempting to use their lingo IRL and end up looking stupid for it). In 15 to 30 years when everyone is more internet savvy, sure, what happens online will have a more 1:1 translation in the real world; but as for right now mentioning IRL that “you believe in ethics in [games] journalism” nearly everyone’s reactions will be along the lines of “Okay…” and not “Ohmuhgerd yuo one of them misogynistic harassers of teh womens!”

It’s always going to be a 50/50 deal about this stuff. Those who are against Scottish independence are those who are already comfortable with their lives and don’t see the point of going the extra mile, while those who want it are the more patriotic ones and either are so because of history and stuff, or because they dislike the British parliament.
Most likely scenario is that nothing happens. But there’s still a large chance that Scotland would leave the UK, though I seriously doubt it’ll be treated equal with other European countries myself.

Also, you’re right. The clashes would continue on forever. My personal bet is that something will happen within the next 10 years or so, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s longer. Scotland leaving the UK when Brexit is still going on would put up an interesting and bad image of the country; the country that runs away. I might be wrong about this though.

Although both of these attacks may seem different, since they targeted worshippers of different faiths, both shooters were united by the same fascist ideology. They were also both radicalized in the same place: 8chan’s /pol/ board.This has been corroborated by posts on the board itself, where “anons,” as the posters call themselves, recirculated the shooter’s since-deleted post. In it, the alleged shooter claims to have been “lurking” on the site for a year and a half. He includes a link to a livestream of his rampage — which thankfully does not appear to have worked — and he also includes a pastebin link to his manifesto.The very first response to his announcement was another anon cheering him on and telling him to “get the high score,” AKA, kill a huge number of people.As I noted after the Christchurch shooting, this shooter’s manifesto is filled with “shitposting” — internet in-jokes meant to distract authorities and the media and make 8chan’s /pol/ board seem less threatening, and less worthy of serious concern. The fact that this is the second /pol/-related shooting in a house of worship in slightly more than a month should be enough to explain that this is false.This article is not a dissection of the shooter’s manifesto. It is a dissection of the online community that moulded and spawned him.
