The arrows fly through, clattering against interior stone walls as they duck back in. By now strongly convinced this may just merely be a thinly-veiled scheme for wanton slaughter, shelves loaded with loose stone tiles and rolled tapestries are pushed in front of the windows to obstruct any more arrows.

The crew reinforce the barricades with whatever large stones or wooden beams they can find scattered throughout the rooms, before their leader confronts the new arrival. “…you’re the one we’ve been sent to help? We’ve been told someone we’d meet here knows how to end that thing for good. Assuming you’re that someone, what’s the plan??”

The stallion hit by the arrow reels back as the shot glances off the hardened eye-lenses of his helmet. The leader then pulls himself away from Dyspo’s question, immediately checking to see if his comrade is injured.
 
The rest of the crew meanwhile quickly scrounge together old tattered rugs and curtains left they can find, then stuff them between the windows and the barricades to completely obscure themselves. With natural light no longer flowing into the refuge, the crew’s firespitters ignite old torches mounted on wall-sconces lining the rooms.

The heavily armored draught-horses, some of which nearly rivaling a Thanator’s enormity and marked with the emblem of the fabled ICM Battalion, raise a host of oversized flamethrowers toward the skies in response.
 
As the fowl plunge toward them, the acrid smell of incinerated poultry and feathers soon adds to the already putrid landscape. With the attack by the wildlife quickly subsided, the army resettles back into their embanking foxholes, turning focus back to the forest-line across the border… Soon, it’ll be time to exterminate.

exterminate who was the question as a number of rocks had gone airborne in the distraction, the ents were intent on burying their feathered freinds and their murderers under a hail of stones.  

 
(also how do they keep the flamethrowers pressurized? for more than five seconds anyways?)

The boulders crash into some positions, catching the Earthborn by surprise, but are quickly replied to with the low thumping reports of ampule launchers across the embankment. Glass spheres hurling forth crash into the animate trees, dispersing reactive allotropes of phosphorus that quickly set their wooden forms alight, while blinding them and the zebra warriors known to be standing guard further back within the forestline under a dense toxic cloud…
 
Suddenly, the entire battalion’s worth in soldiers and war machines emerges charging out unto the Everfree side of the smoke, unleashing a unique form of modernized hell against everything standing in their way…

the war would ahve to take a break as they heard an immense rumble and the ground gave way under the earthborn, soon rising up, behemoth had taken a snack.

The berzerking Earthborn seem to relish in the asymmetric slaughter, so much so that many take no notice of the tremors until it is too late. With the behemoth now towering between what remains of their army, the few remnants left resort only to what they figure best;
 
they quickly rush under the concealing Everfree canopy, their only option to surviving slightly longer collectively agreed to be through limited time bought assaulting similar-sized foes located further in the forest, at very close ranges, and so forcing the behemoth to risk wreaking havoc indiscriminately.
