something had moved nearby, but it wasnt clear what, or why, but one thing was clear, it was impossible for him to be any more nervous or erratic

Horace studies anxiously across the glistening leaves in area of sound heard nearby to spot any dark forms between the reflected starlight, but also keeps another set of vines ready, prepared if need be to swing back to the tree he’d originally climbed, then spot the closely-stalking beast if it passes over the clear and visible trail…

it happened very suddenly, he was grabbed and pinned, something big had climbed its way into the tree behind him

Horace quickly draws out his other pistol,
 
then with the two guns both pointed back beside his waist, he blasts away whatever has a hold of him.

he hears only his bullets smashing off of it, doing nothing. He was ripped down out of the tree and pinned with his back to the ground. The immense creature above him was a thanator, though unclear if it was grimm or not

Hurriedly, Horace gets a knife stuck into whatever gap in the creature’s carapace he can reach, then pulls the blade’s handle like a lever to tear the beast’s natural armor back and off. As the creature looses grip momentarily to the unexpected pain, Horace slips away, then puts a bit of distance between himself and the thanator, standing prepared with his knife brandished and glaring beneath the pale moonlight.

the beast wasnt happy, bolting tawards him and slapping him, hard. This causes him to fly into a tree with some significant force

Dazed by the impact, and possibly with a few ribs now broken, Horace crawls away to fall into a nearby shallow gulch, hobbles to the end of it to conceal himself under an overhead log, then turns around facing back down the gulch with his steel toothpick ready.

the beast charged in, slamming into the log, though unbeknowst to it, there was a rock on the other side, into which its head promptly smashed. A tooth fell out of its mouth, and it confusedly began walking away

Steadily, Horace leaves his concealment, picks the tooth up as another knife,
 
then leaps up unto the beast’s back and begins stabbing the tooth between the upper shoulders.

it immediately slammed into the wall next to it, nearly crushing horace, instead crushing his right arm
 
it was a bad idea to continue this fight. He wouldnt win, even with a confused thanator

@Jinx  
Losing the tooth as a weapon, Horace stabs the creature again with the knife to stay aboard, then starts pummeling it in the head with his half-crushed steel prosthetic hoof.

this only pissed it off, it taking and making a swift roll over movement, crushing horace

(I wouldnt ACTUALLY kill him, but i was making a point. Dont stick around, try to follow the hints in posts. Helps a smooth RP.

Having partially escaped from the crushing, but with both of his hindlegs caught beneath the roll, and his knife left stuck in the creature, Horace pulls himself with his remaining unbroken foreleg across the ground toward the dropped tooth.

(Also, i didnt know his right leg was prostetic, so, ezra got lucky.)
 
**the tooth might be useful someday. For now, it would be best to find a way to return home. His legs were broken, and his prostetic was mangled **

they both are allerted by the sound of changeling wings overhead.
 
“much as i enjoyed that particular display, we have problems, namely, earthborn has a problem.”

the thanator in question bolted, dissapearing into the thick forest
 
however, another thanator could be seen on the rocks above, changeling guards flanking its sides

“by the way, i have a guess what you were trying to pull, and that not being Grimm would not have been the only reason it failed.”

Grimm decended the cliff, landing with a roesounding THUD
 
she looks highly displeased

she didnt respond, instead letting out an odd hiss and bassy chuffing. This was followed by a response from within the forest
