Ah, I see. One does have to ask how different and similar Discord is to his kind, appearance wise.

The only next-gen I want to see in the canon is Discord and Celestia’s, even though I know that’s unlikely to happen. I wonder if there will be any next-gen in the series.

Short version, daring and skull cm guy both try to escape from a temple as it falls apart, and daring gets caught by some rocks and is left hurt. Guy decides that instead of trying to escape he rescues daring after a change of heart, and they both escape.
 
They then seem shelter and decide to wait until his men come to rescue him, and they start to bond.
 
Once they get rescued, skull cm guy gets sent to jail (daring made sure he got a decent prison) and daring retires due to injuries. Once he gets out of jail, they start a family.

I randomly threw this G5 idea together:
 
Either Fosgitt’s or Darkdoomer’s art style, but with the current outline style. Mane cast would be Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Starlight Glimmer, Scootaloo and Cheerilee, all completely different from their current incarnations except for species, though Cheerilee would be a pegasus and AJ would still be southern. Mane city would be Appleloosa. The focus would be on a magic school like Hogwarts, with Starlight as the main protagonist. Princess Luna would be the headmaster. Spike would be there too, as Luna’s assistant, this time voiced by Peter New. Other students of note would include Diamond Tiara, Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, Moondancer, Sunburst, Jet Set, Berry Pinch/Ruby Pinch, Tender Taps, Pinny Lane, Plaid Stripes (the beta bitch), and Flurry Heart (the alpha bitch). Rainbow Dash is the school groundskeeper, and has a pet griffon named Gabby. Teachers will include Twilight Sparkle (Magic), Sunset Shimmer (Gym), Starsong (Music), Toola Roola (Art) and Spoiled Milk (Home Economics)

I find it funny that this thread started because I was ranting about the latest comic.
 
As a side note, I would love to see a few adopted next-gen characters.

Turns out, there was actually no executive meddling involved in that particular case. Toriyama was indeed considering making Gohan the new main character, but he ultimately decided that Goku fit better as the main character after all.
 
It’s also worth noting that that all of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z was literally Toriyama making shit up as he went along with no forward planning whatsoever. Like, he wouldn’t even plan ahead for the next week’s chapter. He said he liked being just as surprised as the reader.
