@CottonTales
Current policy is “assume it’s like how it was for the last six years, we’re trying to work stuff out”.
@PurpleSmart2
It’s long-in-the-works booru ran by the twitter part of the staff (currently hidden from staff page). For furries.
@Derpy Whooves
Okay, let’s translate to human-understandable language.
Attention members of the Anti-Racism/Anti-Bigotry/Anti-Nazi/Pro-Black Lives Matter protest.
Attention, people claiming to be against all those things (but with constantly shifting definitions of “racism”, “bigotry” and “nazi”), and those supporting the internet/riots version of BLM.
This is my own personal statement. The site has not yet figured out how to respond to you, or even bothered to publicly acknowledge your concerns.
“I am rogue.”
While at the same time our primary administrator has not only acknowledged and answered questions about the anti-censorship protesters concerns in their protest thread, they have stated that Blossomforth’s announcement re-affirming our intention of “enforcing our rules against racism, homophobia, hatred, bigotry, and so on more consistently and strictly” is not site policy.
A fact wrapped in emotionally charged language.
I personally believe that this site should take a strong stance against racism, homophobia, hatred, and bigotry in all of its forms.
The definitions of all those things subject to considerable bias, as the staff actions during June have proven:
The staff during that month has shadow-banned people for downvoting BLM/ACAB images, but none else; followed by banning only non-negative depictions of Aryanne, an “aryan”-colored pony with swastika over pink heart as her cutie mark that was
created explicitly because the artist hated being told what they can and cannot draw.
I personally affirm that the Anti-Racism/Anti-Bigotry/Anti-Nazi/Pro-Black Lives Matter protesters have valid and crucial concerns about the future of this community, and of this site.
Only if the concern is “being under protesters’ control” vs “NOT being under protesters’ control”.
I personally agree with Hasbro’s statements about Inclusiveness and Diversity, as well as their support of the Black Lives Matter protests, and the importance of encouraging a welcoming environment for all fans of My Little Pony.
Personal opinion, followed by hypocrisy as the “protesters” in question have consistently encouraged an UNwelcoming environment for those fans of MLP they deem to be “nazi”, regardless of the actual ideology held by the mark.
I personally believe that we should reaffirm our stance against racial, sexual, homophobic, or otherwise demeaning slurs, and against any similarly abusive content.
Again, definition of all those subject to considerable bias.
And I have been calling for a return of the Rule #5 clause:
Do not upload any content that contains hate speech or nazi propaganda. This includes content that promotes nazi ideals, and content that promotes hatred and/or discrimination against others based on race, gender, or sexuality
Exclusive focus on “nazi”, which as per above is a loaded term with distorted meaning. No mention whatsoever of ideologies such as communism (has resulted in millions of people dead every single time it has been attempted; the resulting ideologies such as stalinism, maoism, etc have about as much relation to basic “communism” as hitlerism has to “national-socialism”, with the difference being that nazism has only been “tried” once so far). Yet another wording
highly subject to personal interpretation, and hence, bias.
Additionally, the provided “Rule 5 clause” is only the first iteration
that has been implemented 5 months ago and not acted upon; the next iterations, implemented 13 days ago, are as follows:
“Do not upload content that promotes, glorifies, or trivializes nazism.”
“Do not upload content that promotes hatred and/or discrimination against others based on race, gender, or sexuality.”
I have written to many of you who have asked for takedowns or DNPs (just as I have written to people asking for takedowns on both sides of this protest), and I have been pointing to Blossomforth’s announcement as a public statement of our site’s stance on these issues.
“I am the only person on the staff who is managing DNPs and takedowns.”
Now that Blossomforth’s statement has been declared to not be site policy, I do not have anything to give you, short of statements that our primary administrator gave in the counter-protest to your own.
Emotionally charged language stating that Raptorshy has decided to take anti-censorship stance, as opposed to one of the “protesters”, with implication that she did so not because of her own personal convictions, but because of her weakness. Note that “protester” side has provided a
lot more peer pressure for purposes of “giving in”, including full art takedowns and
attacking Derpibooru’s Patreon directly.
And asking any of you to carefully consider the acknowledgement and concern for the people protesting your protest is just not something I am willing to do.
Poisoning the well by implying anti-censorship side is invalid.
I still believe this can be an awesome community, and an awesome site, but we are wounded and damaged and it will take time to heal.
But first, everyone needs to be willing to heal, and to get along, and to find a path forward together.
Emotionally charged words void of meaning.
Given yesterday’s statements, and especially given the public announcement that Blossomforth’s statements are not site policy, I do not see evidence that we are at that point.
“It’s my way, or highway: I do not see any possibility of anti-censorship side being right in any capacity.”
At this time, this is all that I really can share.
These are my personal feelings on all of this.
“I am still using my staff account to attempt to give weight to my words, instead of my personal account.” Oh nevermind he’s got hidden from the staff page/mod badge. Still not the personal account, though.
