Indeed but it triggers the fascists because their entire worldview is build on the idea that they are normal and everyone else is weird and ‘unnatural’.
I’m am not saying ‘the right’ here cause for conservatives this isn’t so. The delusion that they are normal even when they clearly are not is specific to fascists. Being triggered by being called weird or abnormal is one of the easiest ways you can tell apart a fascist.

Oh, they didn’t freak out or yell. They just started trying to imitate it, like Ann Coulter targeting Walz’s son who has Non-Verbal Learning Disability for being proud of his father, calling him weird for being emotional on stage, or like Charlie Kirk targeting Walz himself for being addicted to the Dreamcast, or Charlie Kirk, once again, trying to call Doug Emhoff weird for showing normal parental affection to his daughter. It goes on and on.

It absolutely gets under their skin. They tried to grasp at so many straws to throw it back.

Indeed cause their entire ideology is based on the idea that they are normal and everyone else is weird. Any eccentricities they have to project onto others and than some. They can not just accept that they are weird and that someone else is normal, it cuts too close for them.

I think I’m starting to figure out what may be a possible reason why name-calling the right as “weird” is so effective. Basically, it comes down to the conflicting ideas of conformity versus diversity.

Conservatives believe in an idea of conformity, that everyone needs to follow a certain kind of behavior and lifestyle to be considered a part of normal society. Liberals, on the other hand, believe more in the idea of diversity, that one need not follow a specific doctrine to feel normal, so they would be more open to the thinking that it’s perfectly okay for some people to be perceived as weird by certain others. In other words, the Right hates anything seen as weird, while the Left sees little reason to be disturbed by the concept of weirdness.

Of course, this is just speculation from my observations, so I don’t really mind if other people see it in some other way. I personally don’t mind being called weird, because I’m not afraid to be proven wrong.

I have, and it’s deserved. The political right has long since stopped being normal (and sane for that matter) and needs this wake-up slap. Them becoming a cult for a orange senile old man is weird. Them trying to act like the Christian/moral right when they are the biggest offenders is weird. They trying to claim to be fore democracy when they want nothing more than to be tyrants is weird.

diversity still conforms to the system it belongs to. As diverse or chaotic a given ecosystem seems to be, each seems to conform to their own places within the ecosystem, and thus you could make out a semblance of order from all the various colors and shape.

Introducing a foreign element does increase diversity, but said foreign element will need to find its place in the food chain. Sometimes this leads to invasive species dominating the locals and replacing the system. Sometimes said foreign species just flat out dies from inability to flourish in a new environment.

i.e. introducing a foreign element changes the dynamic, and you shouldn’t make any drastic changes too rapidly. You need to let the system adapt.

So the conformists and purists aren’t wrong in wanting to slow the changes to what they’re comfortable with, but diversity in and of itself isn’t a detriment, and is even a net positive.

That sounds nice but it really doesn’t make sense in the reality. Just like how all the appeals to nature to justify capitalism are also just hogwash. We are all humans and we live under the same laws no matter where we come from. Any change will lead to the benefit of some and the detriment of others.
The only thing that matters is the maintaining of privilege. Many majority white communities have been told by pastors, republicans, right wing news and lots of other places they are the ideal and so they often end up believing that. So when that idealized image they have of themselves is threatened they get angry.

Change itself is not a problem. It’s if you highly idealize the status quo that things get hostile. A lot of conservatism is also about opportunity hoarding. That people have the idea if they keep out strangers they themselves will do better.
You also have the problem of the establishment having power and so they often want to maintain that power and exploit new ones and when they are not allowed to do that they get mad. The best changes happened in a short time even if they were contested by the powerful elite. Change will always be resisted by the elite no matter how slow or fast it happens. Cause the elite have little to gain and a lot to lose.

However immigration is a net positive exactly for this reason. It upsets entrenched hierarchies and keeps a meritocracy in place. Without constant migration you can’t have a meritocracy as you will get an entrenched elite that will secure their power at the expense of others.

I don’t think that will work very well. Hitler’s speeches have a lot of stuff that was specific to 1930’s Germany.

The specifics is actually the only thing they care about. Fascism isn’t supposed to be coherent or make sense. It’s a bunch of individual talking points that appeal to the moment. But 2020’s US is not the same as 1930’s Germany so those specifics are different.

Trump himself is still randomly complaining about being called weird. It think it was as little as last week that he digressed during a rally to go on a tangent about how he’s not weird, no you are!

The thing about Trump is he’s always been an outcast. He’s the loser kid from Queens trying to weasel his way into Manhattan high society. Needling that insecurity cuts to the heart of who he is.

Essentially. Systems are put in place exactly for this purpose, and it totally can be challenged through a demographic shift. Yes a healthy migration and a real diversity should keep that privilege in check.

Indeed cause stagnation usually happens when you get an entrenched elite. It’s something the founding fathers of the US actually seriously considered cause they saw it happen in real time. In the Dutch republic the once productive merchants had become stagnant money changers who did more to sabotage the economy for others than build new wealth and had become feudal lords in all but name. In Poland the state had been rendered powerless by an oligarchy of nobles who sold off the land piece by piece.
Poland had a constitution already but with the oligarchy being so powerful it was meaningless and the Dutch republic had an efficient economic system but the elite had become so entrenched they didn’t allow it to function anymore.

Poland was carved up and would remain so until WW1.
The Dutch republic is interesting cause while it was on it’s way to become a stagnant country similar to like Argentina this was cut short by Napoleon. Getting crushed by Napoleon ironically saved the Netherlands cause he overthrew the oligarchy, stole all their wealth but was then defeated before he could establish a new oligarchy. It was basically a clean sweep which allowed the Netherlands to prosper again by removing the oligarchy that refused to allow it to modernize. Of course it was now behind technologically and economically but it would catch up.
