Don't blame me, I voted for the other guy. (Politics General)

Trump also gave him the presidential medal of freedom for that donation. That is within his right as president to do but it’s still in poor taste as that’s supposed to be for people of exceptional character who work hard for the sake of the country.
Though Trump being Trump he didn’t just leave it at that. He compounded that recently by saying the presidential medal of freedom is surperior to the congretional medal of honor which really felt ill with many people.

I would like if other countries also got some attention like what is happening in France. With one of the last neo-liberal presidents trying to block the left leaning government from taking power.

Tester still has some advantages that aren’t revealed in raw polling. Enough that I’d still rate it as a toss-up as opposed to Leaning Republican.
Tester has outraised and outspent Sheehy, has the incumbent advantage, has a history of beating his polls, and the abortion amendment will drive up dem turnout.
But I do agree that we need we need to hit Texas and Florida hard. Even if we fail to flip the Senate, we might be able to flip House seats and down-ballot local races, particularly in Florida with the abortion and pot amendments.

I read Nate Silver’s Fox new analysis finally.
His model sort of fascinates me in a morbid way.
For instance, his model shows Kamala leading, he admitted to as much. And yet the actual readout shows Trump with the higher chance of winning. His reasoning being that she’s regressed in the polls and that “people have won from behind before” (paraphrased).
He’s not discussed publicly the full depths of his new model, and his recent hiring by a marketing firm that is kind of notorious for market manipulation does make me a tab bit suspicious.

The biggest 2 things they need to change is that they need to promise to cut off weapons to Israel and hammer in their policies more. They have concrete policies, they just don’t shove them in people’s faces nearly enough.

Allen Lichtman, the man who has correctly called 9 out of the last 10 elections (Bush V. Gore being the only loss, but we all know why) has made his official prediction for 2024.
And it’s Harris. Who he says commands 8 of the “keys” to the White House. The keys being a series of fundamental aspects of a campaign and presidency represented by true/false statements, going well beyond polling.
Some of those “keys” were suspect though. Like I think one of them was “The opponent (Trump) lacks charisma”.
Trump’s kinda got schroedinger’s charisma. If you don’t see through his bullshit, he’s got an excellent talent to enthrall people. You kinda have to considering he used to work for reality TV, and is a lifelong conman. But once you peel back the curtain and realize he’s a blathering idiot, his charisma falls apart.
Silver really fell hard from grace.
Polls are useful data points, but they lack true predictive power on their own. Snapshots of a snapshot.
He got lucky once and had been riding that high for the last 15 years. He’s always been a hack.

How did we think Musk was political neutral for so long?
The same reason we thought he was a genius: the aesthetic. “Man talks about the future and robots and Mars and stuff, he must be smart!”
Then you realize no, he talks about the future and robots and Mars and stuff because he’s child-brained.

The “Charisma” key is often misunderstood.
It doesn’t just mean that the candidate is charismatic. It’s specifically that they have broad crossover appeal style charisma.
Teddy, FDR, and Kennedy for examples. And Regan to an extent.

He also is a very good conman. He got to the top of Tesla with his manipulation, political manouvering and grand promises. Reading about his rise in Tesla reminds me extremely strongly of how Stalin rose in the USSR.
There is a reason why Trump and Musk get along so well as they are very similar. They are both conman.

Trump: Well, I would do that and we’re sitting down, you know, I was, somebody, we had Marco Rubio and my daughter, Ivanka… But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about that because the child care is, child care couldn’t, you know, there’s something you have to have it in this country, you have to have it. (Rambling about foreign policies). I want to stay with child care (Rambling about how child care is little compared to other stuff and “American First”). So we’ll take care of it. Thank you.

@marinus18
Macron kinda put himself in an impossible situation: whoever he’d pick to be Prime minister, it had to be someone who’d stand a chance to survive the inevitable vote of no-confidence from either the left-wing coalition, the far-right, or both.
After the way he positioned himself in firm opposition to the NFP, anyone from their block was all but guaranteed to be automatically rejected by virtually every deputy from Ensemble to the RN (so caving in would’ve just ended up a twofold loss of face for him).
And even Bernard Cazeneuve, who was Prime minister under his predecessor, wasn’t an option since the socialists refused to endorse him after he left their party two years ago (since he was against an alliance with LFI).
Shitty as it is, the best chance he had to find someone who wouldn’t be dismissed out of hand was to pick them from somewhere in the middle of the right-wing block (and Michel Barnier worked better than Xavier Bertrand for that purpose).
Even then, Barnier still isn’t a shoe-in yet, as the left wing of Ensemble has already expressed their skepticism toward his nomination and the RN is withholding their motion of no-confidence until he makes his declaration of general policy.
But yeah, since the French corporate class has already taken to prop up the far-right in order to keep the left out of power (not unlike how it was a century prior — main difference is that the “islamo-leftists” have replaced the “judeo-bolsheviks” as boogeymen), and since Macron is their puppet (one who’s only got less than three years left in charge, at that), him doing more of the same is to be expected.
