Back in 2017, Thomas Massie (R-KY) had a theory about the success of fringe candidates like himself and Donald Trump within the Republican Party. To wit, GOP voters were rewarding “the craziest son of a bitch in the race”.

Right now it’s just a polling extrapolation.

Basically, a few polls revealed that Trump’s lead over Biden diminished, or reversed, in a few swing states when Kennedy was included as opposed to a head to head battle.

Kennedy is also polling more favorably amoung registered Republicans and right leaning independents than he is among dems and left leaning independents.

Kennedys favorablity has dropped rather significantly amoung left leaning groups over all as his actual policy positions are revealed to be more populist/libertarian ones.

In 2015, Austria banned “neo-Nazi codes” on car number plates. Some of them are widely known like 88. Some of them are niche, like 1919. But they also banned 420, as apparently April 20th is Hitler’s birthday. I did not expect 420 to be on that list at all.

Also I agree that 1919 is kinda niche (it was the year Hitler joined the newly founded German Workers’ Party and quickly rose to prominence, although he wouldn’t append “National-Socialist” to its name until the next year; honestly, 1923 — the year of the failed Beer Hall Putsch that landed Hitler two years in prison during which he wrote Mein Kampf — or 1933 — the year the Nazis got elected into power — are more significant).

1919 is very popular with the neonazis where I live. They drop fliers with 1919 on the cover in the cereal section of the grocery store (basically reprints of every horrible racist shit zine you’ve ever seen) and spray paint that number, along with 109/110 and 1-11 and sometimes 1488 along with the American Front logo on power depots and junction boxes along the freeways.

Senator Katie Britt has introduced a bill to create a national registry for pregnant women. It would offer “relevant resources”, but pointedly exclude funding for facilities that offer abortion.

In the US, this is code for “unmarried mothers may sue to collect child support for fetuses from the non-custodial parent starting at the moment of conception”.

Each state has different codes for this, but at the federal level “this statute prohibits individuals obligated to pay child support from crossing state lines or fleeing the country with the intent to avoid paying child support” … and “an individual is subject to federal prosecution if he or she willfully fails to pay child support that has been ordered by a court for a child who lives in another state, or if the payment is past due for longer than 1 year or exceeds the amount of $5,000. A violation of this law is a criminal misdemeanor, and convicted offender face fines and up to 6 months in prison.”

And, of course, this is what the Bradley Amendment (1986) was all about, which automatically triggers a non-expiring lien whenever child support becomes past-due, and overrides any state’s statute of limitations.

As much as I’m a big fan of child support and the government doing everything it can to help support mothers from conception and the resulting babies who are born through at least kindergarten, this seems like it’s going to result in a lot of men involved in one night stands (even with prostitutes) being sued to support the “baby” and the moment of the semen dump …

… which might actually help make more men in favor of both birth control and abortion …

Which seems like a Homeric self-own on the part of the GOP.
