They’re the self-acclaimed “only democracy in the Middle East” and the sole regional power the US is on stable grounds with. If they were to, say, switch over to being more in favor with Russia and China, it would cause significant trouble when it comes to being able to assert pressure on the surrounding countries.

Of course, this comes as a double-edged sword as it turns out that Netanyahu is all too happy to push the limits of said democracy and take the US for granted in their support for genocide.

Members of Congress are now calling for the FBI to investigate student protesters for Palestine on the grounds that chants of “Death to America” are commonplace among them (as reported by Fox News). Investigative journalist Ken Klippenstein has been unable to find any concrete evidence this is the case after analyzing photographs, social media posts, and footage from the protests. The only proof linking the “Death to America” slogan is a single anonymously authored pamphlet purportedly found at the University of Michigan protest reading “Freedom for Palestine means Death to America.” First rightwing media and now Congress are taking this at face value.

Ostensibly, Israel is a response to the Holocaust.

The world was horrified at the atrocities committed and founded Israel for twofold reasons: 1) as an apology that a travesty of that magnitude was allowed in the first place and 2) ensure Jews always have a place they can find refuge, as many nations denied granting them asylum or even wanted immigrants ‘like them’, basically leaving them trapped in Nazi Germany.

So yesterday it looks like Elon announced that he is changing the way blocking on Twitter works so that blocked people can still see all your posts, just not interact with them. He said it is in keeping with his “town square” vision for the site.

I’m sure this will make stalkers and abusers very happy.

April’s jobs report came in softer than expected.

The economy added 175,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate ticked up to 3.9.

235,000 was the expected total and unemployment was predicted to remain flat.

Weaker does not mean weak. 175k is still strong, and the unemployment rate added another month to the record of keeping it below 4%. There are also still 8 million job openings, and wages clocked 3.9% year over year growth, with continues the longest stretch of wage growth in several decades. Wages grew .2% in April, which while the weakest growth of the recovery, puts it still above the average wage growth monthly pre-pandemic.

This news should help quiet any talks of rate hikes, and help cool some heads at the fed.

Eh, neither really work. What I would do is show blocked people as not even having an account, that would also handily deal with quite a lot of bots, since they “read” engagement to choose who to target. Like if a million people view a post, but it only “records” a tenth of that, the bot passes it up.
Also for someone so concerned about it being “a public town square,” it sure is funny he’s blocking all ways to archive it now🤔

The site is practically unusable without an account thanks to Musk. I should know; I don’t have one. A stalker would have to create a new account and use another email each time they’re blocked.

The recent local elections in the UK apparently could portend the Tories largest loss in history, with Labor winning races it hasn’t won in decades and the Tories being absolutely swept.

I’ve never seen a political party collapse so spectacularly.

Tories are an utter shambolic shitshow, but I have little faith in labour being any better.

Edit: Also, labour are even more obsessed with green laws/taxes and don’t like private car ownership. I get that emissions are an issue, but most green laws penalise the poor who can’t afford new cars, or in some cases don’t have a driveway to charge an EV.

Cohen would be privvy to knowledge on whether Trump has incontinence or not.

Regardless, Trump supporters, who swears they are not a cult, have been showing up to rallies in diapers or waving flags saying “Diapers over Dems” or “Real Men Wear Diapers”.
