You say that like it wasn’t the monarchy itself that benefited from the dictatorship of Franco, who re-installed the king and all his powers in his position while himself and the Falangists becoming the government. A process that was carried out because in the thirties, the Spanish people declared themselves a democratic republic and rejected the king, forcing him into exile. And you pretend that just because the King reinstalled democracy when the Falangist structure was falling apart anyways, while still retaining the position of the Head of State is itself a good thing, when monarchy as an institution in Spain is a direct result of the intervention of fascism by Franco.
We could be celebrating a truly democratic, Republican Spain. But that doesn’t exist now.
