I am going to repeat what I said months ago here, whoever wins, the USA is not going to collapse, nor is Trump going to be a dictator, nor is Harris going to end the USA. Calm and sanity is what is missing in the USA.
And by the way, before you talk for the umpteenth time about the “dictator for a day”, I inform you that all real dictators never say that they are going to be dictators, it is ridiculous.
According to Putin, Russia is a democracy, the Chinese Communist Party talks about People’s democratic dictatorship and in my country Venezuela is more of the same.
If Trump had wanted to be a dictator, first he would have been one in his first term and second he would not have shouted about it.

Pretty sure past dictators did talk about becoming dictators, just where more subtle about it. And outside of thermally political people, no one is saying Harris is going to destroy the USA, while even the common voter is concern about Trump and his plans for our country. Also, Trump did try to keep his power with his followers doing a coup on the inauguration of Biden. Maybe do some actual research before claiming to understand our government and politicians.

And red vs blue is a very common color scheme for two opposing teams, so you need much more than just that to claim it’s meant to be our political parties they’re representing. It’s likely just trying to get a few brownie points and eyes during an election season.

It’s amazing how powerful a PR team is, and how quickly it falls apart when the person decides to go without a script.

I know everyone likes to try and forget his presidency, same as with Bush (there’s a pattern forming here), but a reminder that his term was 4 straight years of him trying to do something illegal only for one of his staff to block it. That’s a large reason why he had such a high turnover rate in his administration: either his cabinet quit out of disgust for what he wanted them to do or they were forced out for not doing the thing. It’s why Scaramuchi is now a measurement of time!

This is also the point of Project 2025. Everyone knows now Trump is a retard and a blundering idiot who can’t navigate the bureaucracy, so the Heritage Foundation crafted a Fascism for Dummies framework he can follow to successfully be King of America this time. And a big part of the plan is to gut the administrative state and install cronies who won’t tell him no this time.

With regards to that last bit he did try to become a dictator with him trying to act dominant with the military, use the armed police against peaceful protestors and trying to appoint his supporters. He was just far too incompetent to actually pull it off and January 6th was really just a panic thing to buy more time for his weak scheme to grab power via fraud.
And he talks about it cause he just doesn’t think and just says stuff. He is suffering from mental decline and so has no inhibitions which was shown during the RNC and the debate when he constantly strayed off topic and said stupid stuff.

Trump will not become a dictator, he will become a puppet. He will enjoy the pump and circumstance and let the most corrupt people in and do whatever they want. The national abortion ban will happen not because Trump wants it to but because he doesn’t care.
This is an area where Trump is very different from people like Hitler. Hitler did have a vision and a goal, twisted as though it was. Trump just wants power for power’s sake and that’s all there is to it.

The interesting thing is that usually it’s the other way around. Red is associated with the left and blue with the right.

Though I do agree that the democrats are being overdramatic. In his first term Trump already was mostly just a puppet who just wanted to feel powerful and let other powerful people make all the actual decisions. Now that will be even more so as he’s exhausted and mentally impaired. Trump won’t be a dictator, he will be a puppet. The real power will lie with the 3 groups that put him there: The religious right, foreign dictators and the megacorps.
Hitler was in a similar condition but he was able to grab absolute power and dominate those, Putin did a very similar thing. I don’t think Trump will though, he will just let the powerful interests do whatever they want no matter at what cost.
Trump is almost comparable to the king of Poland at the time of the US’ founding. A puppet ruler who just exists to keep the blame off of the oligarchy who have the real power and use it to enrich themselves at the expense of the people and the country as a whole.

Trump spent the last four years consolidating power. Trump is the head of the RNC; they control the purse strings, so they control the careers of all the Republican politicians. So, one of the guardrails is gone. We know that is true based on the Border Bill and several bills before that when Johnson, McConnell, and even before McCarthy came out and said Trump had said to kill these bills, and then 24 hours later, they started to spin. That Guardrail is gone.

Then, let’s look at his appointments from 2016 to now. We had career leaders who we disagreed with on several things, but we knew they would play in or near the rules. We have Kennedy as the head of the Department of Health, Musk controlling what orgs should exist, and so on. That is one more guardrail gone.

The courts seem to be shakier now than they were, so maybe that one holds, or perhaps it doesn’t.

Seems Alan isn’t the only one in need of a reality check.

You’re kind of saying it yourself. The real danger of Trump is not what he will do but the people who will be empowered by him. Trump himself doesn’t care about governing, he didn’t in his first term and many were frustrated by that. He just wants to feel important and be praised and that’s it.
