2 things to consider here:

1. WW2. The big one. It makes criticizing Israel a very sensitive subject in the West. And in today's political climate nobody wants to be called an antisemite.

2. Religion. A lot of christians in Europe and America have a massive boner for Israel. They can do no wrong no matter what they do. These groups will raise a lot of money and support for settlers.

What’s the strategy in prisons preventing those on Death Row from committing suicide?

They kill themselves and save the system the trouble of having to do them in.

Is it about the psychological aspect?

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@tehwatever
For sake of precision, I want to point out that the home demolitions are in the West Bank. The Jews who move there are either native-born Israelis looking to take advantage of the cheaper housing or super-ultra-orthodox fundamentalists who think it is their divine duty to live there exclusively. Rich people, especially those from western countries, would have their vacation houses on the Mediterranean coast.

Because it makes it harder on everyone. Like you said it's a psychological.

Guys checking out early makes other inmates anxious and their stress level increases. You do NOT want stressed inmates.

Guys being put to death is akin to them leaving when their time is up. It's more…tolerable. You can make sense of it, and you find peace in it.

Georgia Republicans are going ham on restricting voting, with the most proposed restrictions of any state this year.

This includes shutting down drop boxes, limiting absentee voting, and ending in person early votes on Sunday.

And you wonder why I don't view the Republican party as pro-democracy.

One of the perks of being a legislator is that you get to decide what's illegal. Unless it's obviously unconstitutional or the feds put some teeth back in the VRA (Voting Rights Act of 1965), there's not a whole lot to be done.

You could vote them out in 2022, but OH RIGHT.

Can’t stop the signal
@Dustcan

And the shittiness is bipartisan too. Gerrymandering and voter restrictions are the two major issues, but there’s also things that perpetuate the two-party duopoly like how the electoral college works and debate and media access for third-parties.

@Ebalosus
I think the electoral college is a good thing, but yeah the system is set up to keep third parties out. The Dems and Reps don't want that competition.

@Latecomer
Forces prospective presidents to take a more strategic look at their voting blocks instead of just trying to grab mass urban centers and ride them in for a win. This is what Trump did in 2016 and the Democrats were smart enough to realize the mistake when they ran Biden.

Actually, the Progressive Party was formed by Roosevelt after he lost the 1912 Republican nomination to incumbent William Howard Taft. Although Teddy ended up in second place, beating Taft by over 600,000 votes, the split in the Republican vote granted Woodrow Wilson an easy victory, with 435 EC votes.

Otherwise, to find a president that wasn't under the democratic or republican label, you have to go back to the second party system and Millard Fillmore, back before the Civil War, when the Whigs were still around and the Republicans didn't exist yet.
Background Pony #E24F
@Ereiam
I wouldn't discount the Progressive party as a third party just because of its creation, it was a third presidential party that has some support. You're right in that it wasn't an already established third party though.

Still, during his two terms as president (the first when he took over after McKinley's assassination), Roosevelt was still affiliated with the Republican party (which handed him the 1904 nomination with little opposition). Then he chose not to run a third term in 1908 and supported Taft's nomination instead (before the latter grew too conservative for his taste, which led him to run again in 1912, first in the Republican primary, then as a third party candidate, both ultimately unsuccessfully).

Gilda, Gallus, and Camp!
I would like to know what do you right-wingers have to say about these two horrible people, Rick Perry and Tim Boyd ? Both of them said that Texan people should receive no aid against the blizzard, to "avoid Big Government" or to "stop Texans from getting handouts".

“Texans would be without electricity for longer than three days to keep the federal government out of their business,”
— Rick Terry

"No one owes you [or] your family anything; nor is it the local government's responsibility to support you during trying times like this! Sink or swim it's your choice! The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING! I'm sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout."
— Tim Boyd

Are these two politicians reflecting conservative values, or are they just angry politicians having a tantrum?
