Hypothetically speaking, wouldn’t that be even truer if all immigrants were self-sustaining?

Yeah but in order for that to happen we would have to make the upper classes all over the world stop hoarding all the money. By definition that would mean the lower classes would have more money spread between them and therefore be more capable of self-sufficiency.

But that would be socialism so…

And simply implementing a policy to allow the government to take legally owned property from the law abiding is still illegal under the constitution, they tried that here in California, nobody complied.

@Dustcan
I mean, as much as US immigration policy sucks, I sort of figured not letting non-working people in was the norm, you know? Or is it that they have jobs, but not ones that will actually sustain them and their families without government aid?

@TheMagpulPone
Well if that’s the case, what are you afraid of?

Because that would mean people would no longer be able to enjoy their property, they wouldn’t give them up, but they wouldn’t be able to freely use them anymore, either. Unless of course they’re a criminal, since they don’t follow any laws regardless.

@TheMagpulPone
What would you say if instead of “illegal” confiscation, there was a large popular push to legally amend or annul the Second? Large enough to approach the Constitutional requirements for doing so?

The norm is that as long as you follow procedure and meet qualifications then you can immigrate, to oversimplify it. Generally though people don’t emigrate if they got it good in their home country, so immigrants typically are low-skilled workers who can’t get the high paying jobs, and thus not unusually need assistance.

The problem is that anti-immigrant sentiment uses this to push a narrative that all immigrants are by definition lazy welfare-moochers…when that rarely turns out to be the case. Because apparently nobody believes the American Dream is a thing anymore.

What I care about is clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment to raise kids in.

Half the incel fucks in this country wont ever breed, and couldn’t care less if we wreck the place. Those idiots should be ignored.

Corporations that pollute heavily, and that pose a clear risk to surrounding populations should be forced to change or get shut down. Technological innovation should not be held down by the greed of a select few. And the government should do everything in its power to keep our air, water, and food safe.

Do this, and you have my vote. Everything else is secondary to me.

I can’t change your mind, but you likely can’t change mine, either. At least not with those points. I’m more pissed that I can’t install a Cold Air Intake on my truck thanks to environmental regulations, and I have no issues with Guantanamo Bay.

Probably because despite being extremely young, I still remember 9/11 to this day because my parents were out of country and couldn’t get home which freaked me out as a child. So I fucking hate terrorists.
