EXT. FOREST
SUNNY STARSCOUT, an idealistic young unicorn, walks through the woods to a clearing with a log cabin. PRINCESS TWILIGHT SPARKLE, a grizzled old alicorn, is outside the cabin splitting logs with an axe.
SS: “You’re a hard pony to find, Twilight Sparkle.”
TS: (without looking) “Not hard enough.”
SS: “Please, Twilight. Equestria needs you.”
TS: “Equestria’s done just fine without me for a thousand years. I don’t see how that’s changed.”
SS: “You’ve felt it by now, haven’t you? The magic returning?”
TS: “Oh, sure. Made the firewood easier to gather.”
TWILIGHT splits another log for emphasis.
SS: “All that magic has created new dangers, new threats. We need a way to protect Equestria. We need the magic of friendship.”
TS: (snickers) “Kid, I got out of the friendship game a long time ago. Now it’s just me, my books, and the great outdoors.”
SS: “I’m not asking you to stick around forever. Just long enough to help us get on our hooves. Then you can go back to… this.”
TS: “And what’s in it for me?”
SS: “Besides serving your country?”
TS: “Supposing that’s not enough motivation.”
SS: “We found something. In the ruins. A hidden library. Lost journals of Star Swirl the Bearded.”
TS: “Nice try, kid. There’s nothing Star Swirl ever wrote I haven’t already read.”
SS: “Even the account of his trip to the Dragon Lands?”
(beat)
TS: “…you son of a bitch.”
