They released 50 of the 130+ Hoenn Pokémon. Groudon is available as a Legendary Raid Boss for the next few weeks.

Pokémon Go also introduced a weather mechanic where different types of Pokémon appear depending on the actual weather. The Pokémon you encounter and their moves can become stronger!
 
Each of these weather patterns below boost the Pokémon types shown.  
Sunny/Clear: Fire, Ground, and Grass  
Partly Cloudy: Normal and Rock  
Cloudy: Fairy, Fighting, and Poison  
Rainy: Water, Electric, and Bug  
Windy: Dragon, Flying, and Psychic  
Snowy: Ice and Steel  
Foggy: Dark and Ghost
 
There’s also “Extreme” weather, which occurs whenever there’s any weather alert in your area; during this, all weather boosts are negated (i.e., it makes it go back to how it was before weather was introduced).
