Lord Sitar was the alias of Big Jim Sullivan*, an English guitarist and bandleader who was one of the UK’s most prominent and prolific session musicians in the 60s and 70s. This self-titled album, released in 1968 and comprising largely of sitar and tabla-based cover songs in a novelty Raga rock/Psychedelic pop style, was his only album under this alias (Though he also recorded a sitar-based album under his usual name in the previous year). Sullivan continued to perform, record and release music both solo and with various artists right up until his death in 2012.
*Born James George Thomkins in Uxbridge (Then in Middlesex, now West London) in 1941
