When I was five I had a dream that I fell down the basement steps and at the bottom of the steps, in the middle of the sand-floor fieldstone basement, was a surveyor’s tripod. It glared at me disapprovingly. End of dream.
 
I have been lividly afraid of surveyor’s tripods ever since. And one of my degrees is in cartography … which, you know, uses a lot of surveyor’s shit.

I don’t think there are any in particular I’d mark as worst, but I often have dreams where I’m going on through life as usual, then realize something’s not quite right and wake up; then I get up and go through life as normal, then realize something doesn’t fit and wake up; then I get up and… One time it was 7 loops, that I could remember.

Wouldn’t call it a phobia, but I hate praying mantises. Creepy crawlies they are. I did have a phobia of the dark when I was a kid, until I got locked up in a room with no lights, and the only way to get out was to stop freaking out, look for the key by touch, and open a door I couldn’t see. Haven’t been afraid of the dark since, but I don’t advise this type of shock therapy against phobias, it’s kinda fucked.
 
Worst nightmare involved my family getting murdered by the CIA, them coming for me, and having to choose between getting captured then tortured or… well yeah. Nightmare. Haven’t had that one in a while thankfully.

If you could have one superpower/ability, what would it be?

Is there any way I can make The Smiling Pony happy?

Forgot if I already asked this but if not, anything seemingly supernatural ever happen to you? See a ghost? Abducted by aliens? Etc.

Reminds me of an insanely short fanfic I read about the Common Core coming to Equestria. One of the things taught by the new standards is that the brain is a vestigial organ.

Folks say my house is haunted, but not in any kind of interesting way. Just sometimes there’s folks talking in the next room but there’s no one there and shadows move by themselves and periodically there’s a woman wearing white robes walking through the woods but no one is there.
 
The fun stuff is when an owl or eagle tries to kill a raccoon by dropping it on the roof from a great height. Blood everywhere but no body.
 
Just the normal “house way out in the woods” noise.
 
Did an exorcism for one house once though that legitimately creeped me out. There was one piece of furniture in the attic - an ancient desk with one letter in the drawer; a civil war era “your husband is dead” letter. Took three ozone generators and a full bottle of holy water to get the place normal again. Frankly, I think a better idea would have been to simply cook some bacon and let the smell permeate the house, but the owner was a vegetarian, so we went with baking bread instead and that needed a little kick to get the job done.

Not to me. I’ve encountered a few oddities (unusual noises, odd events, etc), but being an inquisitive mind, I investigated and found logical explanations. For example, the ghost haunting my apartment by making spooky oooooo noises was just a window in the other room with a bad seal, causing the wind to create a whistling sound.
 
A few of my friends, family, and co-workers have encountered random spooky sounds that they could not explain at all… But that was mostly because I hid the bluetooth speaker very well ;)
