2019 Derpibooru Community Collab

I did 3 completely different OCs for each year so posting for comparison would be pointless. Didn’t even get in the collab with the first one either so I’m not sure how much that one even counts. :v

Ok, so while I have been posting semi-regular status updates (and even a few teasers) in here, there’s a lot of people who aren’t subscribed to this thread who are curious, so I’m gonna post this as a site announcement so that everyone know’s what’s going on and where things are at:
 
What’s the status of the collab? Where is it?  
It’s still coming along. Right now, it’s at almost exactly at the half way point, with 493 characters placed out of approximately 1005 - 1010 characters total.
 
This collab has had a few challenges when it came to determining the proper scale for everything, so that every character will fit in the image without appearing too small. I got that all worked out, but that also set me back a bit too.
 
Why is it taking so long?  
This holiday season has not been too kind to me - lots of things going on at my day job, lots of family gatherings over the holidays, and I’ve been a bit under the weather.
 
Additionally, I have extremely poor time management skills.
 
When will the final image be posted?  
Honestly, I do not know. I’m planning on spending most of my evenings the next three days (Monday-Wednesday) working on it, but due to some pre-existing plans I won’t be able to work on it much Thursday - Monday. Most likely, it’ll be posted around the middle of the month.
 
Sorry it’s taking so long, and I appreciate everyone’s patience. I think you all are going to like it, though.

You are awesome and fantastic and have already done so much to get people drawing and to encourage everyone to think about having their own OC and being a part of this site’s history. Take your time and keep your health up and don’t stress - the final image is the cherry on top, but it’s already fantastic that this cake is even being made.

You could still post what you did, the idea was to show you improving over the years in regards to technique and perspective.
 
Also to Vector Artists who think they haven’t improved, trust me when I say you have whether it be by your technique, design or even its complexity and I’m very proud to share the same space as you do.

Same as what @author92 said, don’t sweat about timeline, just take your time and have fun doing it.

So while it’s still being made, is there still a chance to submit in new character?

But other than the first image, I just did generic standy pose. No perspective difference. And as for technique, my lack of interest in drawing ponies these last couple years has meant I haven’t really made any improvement on how I draw them.

Im not an authority on this, so don’t take my word for this as Joey has the final say.
 
But I don’t think any new submissions will be accepted as we had a soft deadline (28th Dec), a hard deadline cut off (29th Dec) and then an emergency window where Joey had to remove a few entries and asked for a few extras to bring the total back to 1000 unique characters.

after the picture is done and the pictures for the badges are made, participants and artists will be processed and given the badges where appropriate

I still say we need some more milestone badges for the artists here.
 
I’d say we need one for 750 images, one for 1500, and one for the impressive feat of 2000.
 
They act as incentives. (And getting from 500-1000 is a huge gap).
 
Also, any ideas for what the collab badges are going to be this year?
 
(We’re still missing Mane 6 and characters from the badges yet).

First time entering the collab, no idea how to his mane would look like from the front.

Spent several days to get some semblance of a working front-view, was pretty close to just changing his design.
