Chile, southamerica. From what I’ve seen from other people’s conversations, everything is crazy cheaper here in comparation to their countries.

$400 is considered a midrange price here. While midrangers have become quite competative. I tend to buy preceding year(s)’ flagships. This year’s flagships tend to outlast and outperform next year’s midrangers while containing flagship features for a often depreciated price.

Could be any number of things going into it. Economy, where the phones are manufactured, whether or not the manufacturers have some kind of deal with Chile in general, etc.

One of my first smartphones was an HTC, probably clunky by todays standards but I absolutely loved it

…stick to the sub 500$ phones, man. they serve their purposes and some.  
also 900 is not budget friendly. what nonsense is that?! even in 2018 ppl still thought 900 to be out there.  
hence why phones like the PocoF1, Honor 10 and Xiaomi A2 are such popular choices and even previous models like iPhone 7 and One Plus 5 are still purchased even today (in stores that still have them).

Why the fuck does mom think that just because I’m over 18, it automatically means I need to learn about politics or sports?

Yeah. They used to be dominant and everywhere during the early days of Android. In fact, they were the ones who propped Android into the mainstream while Samsung was still trying to get the smartphone thing right.
 
They still make great devices. But their stupid business practices, lack of marketing, and exorbant prices on their products have pretty much drove them to near extinct on the market right now. Sony is facing a similar issue with their mobile business.

I do not, however, know what age has to do with an interest in sports xD .

In the past two people with experience in human resources have told me the job market in this area is strong. That stuck out to me because of how wrong it is. They were looking only at the numbers. From a strictly objective and mathematical standpoint, the job market is strong. More jobs = stronger market. It’s the kind of simplistic, narrow minded thinking I have come to expect.
 
They completely ignored the human element. The vast majority of jobs are shitty work in run down factories with bad hours, low pay, apathetic management, and dirty and unsafe working conditions. Nobody actually wants to do these jobs. They do them because they are all that’s available. The job market is not strong when the jobs are terrible and people are busting their asses just to make ends meet.
 
I believe it weighs on the psyche of the area. I see the harsh economic reality hanging over people like a grey cloud. The jobs they have to accept make them feel worthless, hopeless and lost. They are driven to heavy drinking and drug abuse. There is an unusually high number of cripples because of the rate of workplace injuries. Companies treat people like they’re disposable.

Xiaomi makes great devices and excellent value. Main problem with them is their availability. Especially in the North American market.

Tech reviewers are sponsored content creators, man! They gotta do what they’re told if they want that sponsorship money!  
Also please, bro. they probably do know what it’s like to be poor. If they had to work to make money, they know the struggle to make money.
 
Just look at sponsored bodybuilders who regularly promote overpriced XYZ protein shake and growth hormones. Big Ramy, a 30-something Egyptian bodybuilder who scored sixth place in Mr Olympia 2018 was a fisherman before he got discovered in his mid-20s by a trainer, won local competition in 2012 and then started to make a name for himself. his biggest achievement to date, is scoring 2nd place in 2017 Mr. Olympia.
 
Point is: a mouthpiece is poor, the sponsors are rich. These phone manufacturers want to make the most bucks and they use these exploitable charismatic lads and lass to influence the minds of the average consumers, even if you and I know better not to fall into their traps.

Gearbest sells Xiaomi stuff, I think. And yeah, they’re availability is low in the NA market. Here in Spain luckily they still sell.
 
niche phones like PocoF1 and OnePlus though…Good Luck finding them although OnePlus is getting mainstream in NA these days. Also, unfortunately, recently they go from “a poor man’s iphone” to “just another flagship with the price to match.” OnePlus, you used to be such a hero, now look at you…

Xiaomi is an absurdly cheap and popular brand here. The trick is that while that brand’s quality is more than decent, it has next to zero replacement parts available here, so if you crack your screen or bust a component, you are boned.
