General Dark Souls

Well, I melted the Shadows of Yharnam using beasthood. If you ever want to make Bloodborne easy, use beasthood.

kill them and use things that helps you kill them much faster, that’s the way of the Bloodborne and the Hoonters.

did it. I beat Gascuchi and his Church Dog.
 
so, I got the rifle spear, which is good as it’s both blood and physical attack, only enough mats for +2, almost +3, mostly because I was exploring Old Yharnam and god damn… That was the hardest fucking thing to do, every enemy and beating them with a useless stick, it was hell. 30-40 damage an R1, 50-60 with R2, good luck with charge attacks and thank the fucking Great Ones for the Hunter’s Torch, an indispensable item in such crises.
 
anyway, with the spear, I do around 70-100 damage, nearly 200 with the charge skill. It’s not great, but it will get better from here on, it’s a pretty fairly good start, plus this one has a nice spray shooting.. :p
 

 
one thing I’ll say is, I don’t quite get how the visceral trigger on church dog works. That one’s an oddball. I was lead to believe it was after some particle effect, which happened twice too, but I got nothing.

shot it all over the place and while aiming its head. I’m telling ya, something is odd about it, or I don’t get when I’m supposed to do it.

I was going to kill bloodstarved beast and now that I have some shittier items, especially after having discovered I can’t fire paper blood type weapon, I realized that, this boss isn’t easy, but it is pretty predictable and has the same blind spot for almost all attacks, or at least every attack I’ve seen it do.
 
then I discovered, oh yeah, I’m outta bullets, I have never encountered any gunners with bullets in Old Yharnam and I just remembered, you can run out of these in this game.
 
 
whatever. If I have to, I’ll take my time farming the souls to get a ton of them at the ready, I’m doing my gunner.

and ded. took only 3 papers to slowly whittle down that hp. ~for anyone who’s got 4 painful minutes to spare.
 
 
who would’ve thought not doing 700 damage each R1 would make the game harder.

Apparently fromsoft enemies don’t handle long range that good even the most erratic ones

you mean, backstepping and dash attacking? _{I Dunno if I’d do that with the BSB….}
 
as for the extended attacks, they are what they be. Maybe I should’ve tried it unextended, but I had a feeling it would whiff, much like most attacks seem to do anyway in the video.
 
 
thing is, in that fight I learned to fight BSB for real, with low health, dying in 1 hit because of the poison and not being able to use antidote, you know, the usual stuff with this boss and now that I’m thinking back, I think the Rifle spear would’ve been better for him. Charged attacks and an R2 follow up in extended, they both have a charge/dash attack to them, which makes it ideal after dodging in phase 2 and 3 of the fight.

Still love the fight. I’ve really gotten his patterns and tells down. I feel all or at least most of his attacks have no delay, and I love the aggressiveness of the fight. Epic music, and the three phases are pretty distinct. Also, the arena is extremely generous and that makes the fight much more manageable considering how much distance he covers.

if there’s a message in this it’s that, I miss Dark Souls 1.

It’s a living great club. Why wouldn’t it be str base? You could make a str-base character in our run to use it.

Pfff there isn’t such a thing as strength and arcane

There is, though the arcane is negatable, so you can just have 9 arcane and dump the rest into str.

So, what level should we be when we start?

Are we doing it tonight or another day?
