The thread’s for everyone, but primarily for the booru’s artists to show their work and ask questions, or just generally converse if they’ve something to say.
 
Try doing a couple of doodles and upload if you’re happy enough with them. Could get you an artist badge if nothing else.

The artist badge just means you’ve uploaded some of your own art here, and had the artist tag verified to belong to you.
 
You’re still free to link and post images you drew here even without the badge. It’s more of just a symbol letting people know: “This person has drawn some art”. =)

Hey guys. I wanted to ask a few questions out of curiosity.
 
First, since when you started to draw ponies?  
Second, what media do you use?  
Third, for digital artist, what program do you use?

Technically started sometime after S1, but didn’t seriously get into it until about a year ago. I draw with pencil and paper and digitally ink and color with GIMP.

I started in the middle of 2011 and to draw I use Paint Tool SAI and/or Ponyscape with a Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch

I started some time in 2012. However, saying that I have been drawing/painting for 5 years would be misleading, because I work very on-and-off, often times going months without making anything. I favor digital because of convenience - I don’t have to deal with storing artwork and supplies, or the mess from oil paint or watercolor. I use photoshop, but have tried quite a few programs - SAI, Mangastudio, sketchbook, Krita. Krita is probably the best one for painting, but really, any of those would work; I keep using photoshop only because it was the first one I use, and it does the job just fine.

Started drawing the ponies about…. 4 years ago? (ish. About. Roughly)
 
First few were, frankly, abysmal, and I never uploaded them. Hadn’t drawn anything for near 10 years before that.  
I used to be fairly good at drawing, (no master; but that’s obvious with what I’m like now), but it’s taken a while to get even close to the level I used to be at. (And my style’s changed drastically. Might try drawing something in my old style some time).
 
Originally used to use pencil, line in, erase the pencil sketch, then colour with felts. Needless to say, I abandoned those pens long ago, and always use colouring pencils now. They give a cleaner finish.
 
I have occasionally used that dreaded art program MS Paint to clean up iffy lines, but it’s still all traditional from me.

 
I got nothin just enjoy.

I draw the same way as you do. I trace my sketch on Adobe Illustrator however. And that is one spooky mare for me.

Finally finished with this.  
Making this and the critique that people have given me have helped me realize I need to work on the fundamentals of drawing and human anatomy, so you probably won’t be seeing much humans from me for a while.

Did an abstract coloring practice a few days ago. May I have constructive criticism please?

(That and my last two were OC requests and I’ll be putting off those watching my artist’s tag if I do too many of those in one go. Still got another one to do yet; next job I think).

Been experimenting with adding some fairly simple, not too time-consuming BGs to my pics, as opposed to the simple white or transparent BGs i’ve been doing a lot of. Something to add a bit without outstretching my attention span :V

Certainly helps putting the image in context.  
Even the most basic background (and that grass background I do on a lot of my quick doodles is really basic) can make the picture better.
