yeah, this scene uplifts flash immensely in my opinion.

Especially in this movie. It seems like his only significant roles are to run into someone he knows, be nice to them, and then watch dejectedly as they leave immediately to do something more important.
I honestly kind of feel sorry for the guy. At least he has Derpy to lend a little sympathy.
