The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Actually, Fenwolf, I’m sure Mrs. Faust has only said that she never really thought of AJ’s parents until long into the show’s first Season. During production, nobody really thought much about the implications of not having AJ’s parents on-screen. Nowadays within the fandom, it’s commonly believed that AJ’s parents passed away shortly after Applebloom was born. As far as Word of Faust goes, however, there is neither a confirmation nor denial that this is the case.

Ponies: Happy & Safe
Applejack is secretly the orphaned daughter of two ponies who hail from a space-travelling civilization hidden from Equestria. they were on an extended vacation and got a little too … “excited”.

I agree with Nightjack.

Denied.

Applejack’s folks are dead, most accept that because Faust said it. But this just seems wrong. AJ was shown leaving the farm and her folks didn’t see her go, so it’s safe to assume they were probably dead by the point since the age range would put Apple Bloom as being a year or more old.

AJ clearly wasn’t blaming herself for her folks death at that point when she left, so it seems unlikely.

It’s more likely with how most people show it. AJ was forced to take on responsibility as a child and because of that is more mature than the other characters and why she is so obsessed with letting AB have fun and a good childhood, she wants her to have the childhood she didn’t have.

It also points towards why she acts how she does alongside Rainbow Dash. Dash is still very immature and she is able to bring out the child in Applejack. It’s a reason a lot of people like that ship, AJ can make Dash more relaxed and controlled and Dash can make AJ happy and come out of her work-shell.

I can see this. She’s rather stubborn for a level-headed pony. Maybe it’s like a form of high-expectation Asian dad but sort of inverted in a way.
