…Well, I’m just going to scroll back up and admire the attractive woman who’s soaked in water and wearing a white bikini and purple wig.

@carvin
Oh my goooood why are you still doing this?
The original complaint was that this was minimalistic and me theorizing that attention whorish people who put minimalistic effort into it, such as this one, is probably a negative stereotype in the cosplaying community or whatever.
Bloody hell I just wanted to share a moment with an anonymous internet user in the comments section is that so bad?
carvin

@DrNazus
Alright, headache is done.

Yes, feminism. My point is that I dislike her motives being questioned, ridiculed or shamed. Now, I don’t know about you, but generally calling someone an attention whore is shame related. Uhg. I feel like I’m teaching a class. A 101 course on Feminine Theory.

@DrNazus
Fuck, my head hurts. And I’ll lose track of this if I close it. Fuck.

Listen. Just…

Feminism.

Alright?

wow, what are you still doing here?
I’d though you’d have ran away far from this horrible picture of a - GASP - not fully dressed girl! WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO THAT WE MUST BEAR WITNESS TO SUCH SINFUL BEHAVIOUR!

“to disparage attention seeking is near universally hypocritical.”
Nnnnno, no it isn’t. I think you need to look that word up.
“You are stating that it should be disliked “
Do not tell lies.
“The problem is, it’s quite likely that you wouldn’t disregard a male cosplay of equal quality and ’minimalism’ and lack of clothing”
Wrong. If a “cosplay” was just a guy with blue hair and in a speedo with the Wonderbolts insignia on it, I’d say that was attention whoring too.
“Feel free to deny it”
Done.
“My point is my concern here relates to the disparity in treatment of women when they may be sexually expressing themselves.”
And my point is that if there is a stereotype with female cosplayers either being ugly or attention whores then this one only increases it.
“And you didn’t say she should feel ashamed?”
No.
“I forgot when ’attention whore’ became a compliment”
It isn’t.
“The whore in that term is not accidental, even if you didn’t literally mean she was a prostitute.”
What?

Also god damn it I only wanted to let someone know I have the same opinion as them. Is that really so bad? Is it really so bad for me to let someone else know that they’re not alone in not liking a thing?
carvin

Nevermind, now it appears.
@DrNazus
You are more than welcome not to care most of the time. That’s your right. My point is there is nothing wrong with wanting to have that appreciation. And that to disparage attention seeking is near universally hypocritical.

There is nothing wrong with minimalism. It hardly invalidates what she did. Even if it meant it was bad, which it really doesn’t, that is irrelevant. You are stating that it should be disliked in part because of sexual expression, as you say ‘sexually driven’. The problem is, it’s quite likely that you wouldn’t disregard a male cosplay of equal quality and ‘minimalism’ and lack of clothing. Feel free to deny it, it’s not a provable point (unless you have seen such a cosplay and have record). My point is my concern here relates to the disparity in treatment of women when they may be sexually expressing themselves.

And you didn’t say she should feel ashamed? I forgot when ‘attention whore’ became a compliment. The whore in that term is not accidental, even if you didn’t literally mean she was a prostitute.

“or at least appreciation for your appearance”
I’m certain there are people out there, like me, who don’t care on most occasions.
“Complaints about people ’seeking attention’ are too often gender biased, but more importantly because it shames sexual expression no matter the intent of person in question.”
It’s that fact that it’s so minimalistic and sexually-driven that makes me think it’s attention whoring.
“If you think it’s a bad cosplay, that’s fine. Say it.”
Uh, I did.
“But don’t think that because this girl (woman? I can’t really tell age here…) did what you consider a poor job that she therefore just wanted people to call her hot and she should feel ashamed.”
First of all, pretty sure it’s woman rather than girl.
Again, it’s just because it’s so minimalistic. All she did was dye her hair and put on white swimwear.
And I never said she should feel ashamed. Don’t make up lies.
carvin

@DrNazus

First, I’ll say I was feeling ranty and it got redirected here. I blame the fucking supreme court.

I guess I’ll put it another way: unless you don’t own a mirror and dress like the Amish or a monk, you seek some sort of attention, or at least appreciation for your appearance. It’s human. Maybe someone seeks more than you do, so what? Complaints about people ‘seeking attention’ are too often gender biased, but more importantly because it shames sexual expression no matter the intent of person in question.

If you think it’s a bad cosplay, that’s fine. Say it. There is good point to this being not super great. But don’t think that because this girl (woman? I can’t really tell age here…) did what you consider a poor job that she therefore just wanted people to call her hot and she should feel ashamed. Fuck that noise.

Someone has told her that she is ugly. Too fat, too thin, too tall, too short, too dark, too light, too many freckles, boobs too small, too little, too weird… every woman deals with this. Some women work tirelessly so that people will stop; this never happens, but some people will stop with the right clothes, makeup, hair, dyes, accessories… Because we don’t let women be judged without considering their appearance. There are no exceptions.

Don’t want to hit you too hard with the feminism, but this shit is real, and I’m a man who’s sick of it.

I wasn’t bitching or hating though, I was just explaining my point of view.

“fuck the idea of ’for attention’. Of course they want attention, it’s posted on the fuckin’ internet you twats. If they didn’t want attention, they wouldn’t have done it in public. Just like everything you do. Your posts are looking for attention or you wouldn’t post them”
You have an odd view of how things work. I honestly wish I could explain to you why I think this is wrong, but it seems to obvious to me that I just can’t express it.

“And, like all women, someone has told her she is ugly. Because that is what society does to women- they call them ugly so they focus on ’fixing’ that imaginary problem and buy stupid crap.”
I have no idea where you’re getting this one from. This woman doesn’t seem ugly to me at all and I’ve never seen society as a whole calling every woman ugly.
carvin

Bitch, bitch, bitch. We’re talking about cosplaying as characters who rarely wear clothes. It’s all interpretation. Just look at the pretty girls and save your hate for something worthwhile.

And while I’m at it, fuck the idea of ‘for attention’. Of course they want attention, it’s posted on the fuckin’ internet you twats. If they didn’t want attention, they wouldn’t have done it in public. Just like everything you do. Your posts are looking for attention or you wouldn’t post them. It’s unfortunate that people like this get praise and attention. I’m not really into the cosplay thing across any medium, but I can easily assume there’s a stereotype with female cosplayers either being ugly or attention whores like this one. If I’m right in that, people like this only perpetrate it.

Glad I didn’t have to be the one to say it because honestly? Her hair’s not even in a Rarity-like style. It’s JUST purple, that’s literally all it is.

If I didn’t know she was meant to be Rarity due to checking out her facebook page then I’d assume this was just a girl in purple wig. There’s nothing Rarity about it.

But to be fair, 50% of this girls “cosplays” are just bikinis with sub-par wigs. No effort whatsoever.

@Valikdu
Not liking a cosplay that barely any effort was put into isn’t gay or a sign of jealousy. Likewise, appreciating a legitimately good cosplay isn’t straight.
